Moron allert... Phelp's probably destroys his career with this move

I know it's impossible but can't the damn media leave him alone? IF it is him and IF it is Bud in the pipes......so what?

Phelps admitted it's him. So it IS him.

So what, he should kick the dudes *** that took the pic. He's (the pic taker) is the real dipsh!t here. I'm sure the pic taker just took a big ole hit off that just before he wanted to sh!t on Phelps.

He acknowledged yesterday that it is him. Also, the problem with saying "so what" is that he's idolized by sooooo many of our youths that it sets an extremely bad example for them. We simply don't need our next generation to become casual drug users.

Back when Phelps was 19 he was caught drunken driving and now this. He might be a winner in the pool but outside of it he's a big time loser.

He's idolized for what he has accomplished in the pool not outside of it. Out of all those youths, how many do you really think smoke themselves?

We simply don't need our next generation to become casual drug users.
That's been going on for generations and generations

He likes to have fun and party sometimes. Never heard of a 19 year old let alone and early 20 year old that didn't like or want to. That doesn't make him a looser at all. Tell me he got caught in some shady hotel with a nasty whore and some crack cocaine or heroin and I'll think differently.

Another role model for our kids bites the dust.......... Maybe he can do endorsements for Tommy Chong or Fritos. Are you going to eat that hot dog?

Why do we expect everyone in the social / public eye to be a perfect pristine human being when so few are not?

Wow he tokes... big fricken deal... he is just a dude... role model... please people..... Athletes are not role models... What and how we think of them is not real, but a human version stripped down of all of our own insecurities...

Since when did we have such a high expectation of human behavior, when on average we are really just a bunch of jerks?

When are parents going to start actually teaching there kids what a real role model is? I guess that will be when they could actually show them by example...

Maybe this rant is because I dislike most sports and sports players anyways, but the American fanaticism with popularity and hero worship just goes too far.... especially when it is mis-directed...

Oh how quick we cast aside everything he accomplished this past summer just because of a picture.

Chong and Phelps are on opposite ends of the spectrum here not to mention this completely smashes the common stereotype of the "Pot head coach potato" :D:beer;:p

Endorsements will be gone. The Chong comment was more tongue in cheek.

Ruffie - You may not look at sports persons as role models, but the kids in the pool wanting the Olympic dream might. They probably have his posters in their rooms. So even though you do not see them as such, some kid out there is looking up to them.

If he wants to show this side of himself on an international scale. Great! Big deal, he smokes, but with the public attention this might not be his greatest moment...... The international sports community takes all drug use very seriously and it is not tolerated at all.
Everybody makes mistakes. Unfortunate, but he is in the spotlight and has been looked at as the clean cut all American athlete that can do no wrong.

Because of this, he will get as much press as his accomplishments. To bad, hopefully someone will write that he made a mistake, but he is still a class act. The press will more than likely tear him apart though.

Athletes are indeed role models. I agree that they shouldn't be, but they are.

I think it's ridiculous how many people are sympathizing with Phelps. Yet another example of moral decay in this country. We need to stop accepting behavior like this and call these people out for acting like idiots otherwise our kids have no chance.

Ok, this is going to hurt..... I agree with Ruffey.

This is stupid, he should tell the world to f-off. It's a little weed. BFD!

After receiving a $1 million bonus from swimsuit maker Speedo for winning at least seven[12] gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games,[13] Phelps used the money to create the Michael Phelps Foundation,[12][14] a charity foundation to promote water safety and to advocate swimming for children. Speedo then donated an additional $200,000 to the Foundation

Bowman told a Sun interviewer, "He's unbelievably kind-hearted", recounting Phelps's interaction with young children after practices.[2]

Phelps noted that he had signed up for Project Believe, a project by the United States Anti-Doping Agency in which U.S. Olympians can volunteer to be tested in excess of the World Anti-Doping Agency guidelines.[25] During the Games, Phelps was tested nine times, and passed all of them

He co-founded the "Swim with the Stars" program, along with Ian Crocker and Lenny Krayzelburg, a program which promotes swimming and conducts camps for swimmers of all ages.

How quickly the good things get forgotten.

Great posts Outlaw, Greenis for ya. Like I stated, I hope people (The Press) looks at this and states these very facts as Outlaw has posted.

It's nice that there are those out there that are allways looking to tear someone down.

But the fact remains, the international media spot lights are allways on. If you have fame, you have the spotlight and there is no off and on switch.

Have to go, The Steve Wilco show is coming on after Jerry.
