Modifying front suspension

Does anyone know if you mounted the front shocks to a more forward angle if it will improve ride? What I am getting at is the lower portion is mounted behind the spindle ctr. line to clear the upper A arm front rod. If I made a new front rod with a bend in it to clear, then I could move the lower mount forward. The shocks I have are smaller in dia. and have heim bearing mounts. They are pivotable from side to side with custom bushings I can make! Does a forward angled help? Just need something else to do since I am re-bushing the front end.

Thanks Mike

I would think you would have to change the angle of the arm movement to have any real difference. Good valving and perhaps different springs would have the most impact on the ride.

Tip the A arms up at the front mount about an inch then relocate the shock to the lower A arm and stand the shock up and back a little with a new top mount/ loop.. Kinda like the new pro climb,, only a lot less money. Go with a timber sled front end or one that has a spindle that steers like that. Fab craft or one of the other suspension shops used to take the rigid cats from the 9ts and cut the bulk head just behind the rear A arm mount and bend/weld the bulk head back together. They handled great and raised the front up a little The flat A arm angle makes the front stiff which causes the sled to hobby horse front to back look at how bad the Ms handled.. You can't simply tip the spindle back and expect to make a sled handle better..

The geometry of the a-arms have to be right or it doesn't matter how they are mounted, the a-arms control the direction, if you could make a ball joint mount on the spindle then change the a-arms to work at different angles (and did it right) it would be a big diff. I prefer to buy a new sled.
