Interesting....he is gonna follow my path. I started out that way. I went into the Army as an MP and then became a reservist and got hired with the Border Patrol. I am still a reservist with the Army, but I moved on from the B.P and finished college. I would recommend him becoming an Army or Marine MP or go into intelligence. The Air Force security forces aren't too bad....but of course not as much discipline as Army and Marines. I would highly recommend he take advantage of the college programs in the military. He could come out of the military with a degree....hard work being a soldier and going to school, but it can be done. Make sure he gets a large student loan repayment in his contract and a good GI Bill. When he is active military they will pay all his tuition.

Coming from second hand** I did not serve (wish I would have instead of going to 4 years of college), I have several co-workers (I drive a black car that goes fast and flashes lights sometimes,) that are marines, air force, army, and navy. Seems like they all seem to say that the Airforce has the best/easiest job, with the best equipment and ammenities. Marines seem to have had it the toughest, but are better off because of it... all seem great, but just my 2nd hand 2 cents.

Air Force for best quality of life. I think were pretty short of Security Forces so may even get a signing bonus, I can check if you want. BUT, if AF, Army or MArines is chosen in the security field I imagine he wouldnt have much time in the states for schooling. Ive been in 14 years. If border patrol/national security is what he is persuing Id consider Coast Guard. Yes they are a branch. There WHOLE job is security. They arent a fighting force. They do border parol, drug interdiction, rescue boats/choppers.
No first hand knowledge but researched alot when I joined. They dont deploy overseas which would add a ton of comfort level. All us other members are always wondering when the next deployment or year away is. Not them.

The military/Boarder patrol.
Well, they all can be pretty dangerous right now.
Having been in the navy, I would give you one piece of advise.
do your homework.

Check to see which one/branch will give you the best chance to reach your final goal.
Might also check homeland security.

depends on your location for danger, dont' really need to explain that further lol

Homeland Security is a big umbrella, under you find FEMA, CBP, Coast Guard etc.

You'll go much farther with a degree in hand
