My buddy.... Whom I usually go ride with went with a group of guys today, while I was at work..... No big deal. Anyways while he's was riding his rear coolant tube going to his heat exchanger poped off while he was riding. He didn't notice until it got to late. He said he was running around 8 grand when the motor started to make all kinds of vibrations and run bad then he shut her off right away. He had it towed back the the trailer. 20 miles.... When he got to the trailer it started but Ran like the choke was on. And took her home.

Do you guys have any idea what he might have done to his sled? I haven't talked with him for a few hours, and I haven't looked it over yet, and I have no idea if he blew the top end or just melted her down.

He ride a 2003 rmk 800....

may have just melted the head o rings. id pull the jugs and check the pistons and cylinders and go from there, whatever damage was done im sure will be quite visible and apparent

I talked to my buddy tonight and he said him and another guy checked the compression and the pto side had 170 psi and the mag side had 165.... I don't know If that counts for anything..... He also said he started it up and it ran good..... I still think he messed something up, but like I said I haven't looked at it yet......

sounds to me like the det sensor did it's job. when the motor overheats the det sensor retards the timing so you don't burn down. your buddys sled was saved by the det.
