MCX tuning instructions.

Anybody know where a guy could get his hands on tuning instructions and boost settings in relation to octane level for an Nytro MCX system?

I can't get an email to go through to MCX for some odd reason.

Thanks,

What type of tuning you want to do? Efi ?

Boost 8 lbs - 12 lbs 92 octane
13 lbs - 15 lbs 101 octane
15 - 17 psi 110 race gas
I have been running 101 octane up to 15 lbs of boost 1200 miles and no problems.
The extra octane that I,m running is for piece of mind.

not sure that does him much good w/o elevation info as well..

what elevation are you running from?

These numbers are with the headshim installed.
Some ball park numbers:
1000-2000 feet at 10psi 91 octane
1000-2000 feet at 12psi 93 octane
1000-2000 feet at 13-15lbs you need to mix race fuel or av gas
1000-2000 feet at 17psi 98.6 octane so straight av gas.
6000-7000 feet at 12psi 91 octane
6000-7000 feet at 15psi 94 octane Need to add some race fuel/av gas
6000-7000 feet at 17psi 96 octane so straight av gas to be safe.
Anything over 15 psi you should consider either running straight av gas or race fuel.
After 17 psi I am told New rods would be a good idea.
Kits from MCX later in the year without the external electric fuel pump are only mapped to 15psi(I think, need to confirm). Kits that took the stock fuel pump out of the gas tank and had a electric fuel pump mounted on the frame (early build kits) are mapped to 18 psi.

Mine must be an early kit as there is an electric pump mounted above the battery on the right side.

Thanks again for the info and please pass along any other tidbits that may be of help.

I would recommed putting a Hallman rx evolution boost controller on it in place of the "automatic" adjusting boost controller that the MCX kit comes with. The MCX controller was supposed to increase boost as you went up in altitude. It rarely worked at best. It would replace the MCX adjustor. The evolution rx pro has a cable that you can run to you handle bars and allows you to turn the boost up and down how you want without taking the seat and seat support off.

The MCX controller has wires going to it. It sits by the turbo under the seat. You can not unhook the wires from the MCX controller. Just spool it up and zip tie it out of the way.

You can get them on ebay for 160 US.

I got a boost controller with the sled that ties in to the vacuum line for the wastegate controller (as I recall). I plan to mount it near the turbo intake so I can adjust the boost externally.
