MCX Nytro secondary clutch problem

I wasn't sure which one. I'd like to know the specs between the EPI and the AC Purple spring ?

I did some looking around and this is what i found:

AC Purple - 86/159
EPI Purple (ACSS-5) - 86/148
Yamaha (stock white) - ?

Does this seem right ? Looks like not much of a difference if i have the numbers right. Thanks

I'm pretty sure the one you had picked out is just a compression spring.....like you would put in a Team clutch. You need one that has tangs on both ends. I'll see if I can find specs on a AC purple. What angle helix are you running?

I've been running the 51 regrind from Vernon. My setup has been working perfectly. But lately i notice the belt is slipping in the secondary. I am curious if the spring is fugged already. I rewound it one hole and it helped so i am guessing a new spring is on order.

Google ! Anyone have either the AC Purple or the EPI Purple new in hand ? I can't seem to find one for Tuesday !

Just ordered one from the AC dealer here in Bend. 12.99 Should be here Tuesday. Where are you located?

I have the same problem and was thinking that It needs more spring tension but mine is set up with a turbo and had a hard time getting it to stop the hitting the rev limter so not sure I want to stiffen up the spring because then I will increase my rpm. But the problem seems to be the back shift

A longer spring will not increase rpm just side pressure to avoid that hanging up thing The purple cat will work set at 0/1 or 0/2. If you still have the stock weights dump em there are junk esp with boost...as is the 39 deg helix they put in there....02:mad:

What weights and Helix are you using with boost? So is the purple spring longer, but set at 0/1 it has no more torsional force than the pink Yamaha spring that comes in the Nytro? What about the Dalton secondary spring? His website says it has teh same torsional force as a silver spring, but is 1/2 inch longer for more side force.

Anyone try a Dalton secondary spring ? What are the specs of the white Yamaha secondary spring ?

Dave's got some springs at his place in Sicamous. I was over there a couple of times last week and he had a box full of different ones. Give him a call.

For now I am runnin the apex 8b-u fully loaded and trying the shockwave starting @47 but will no doubt be moving up to at least 50 deg..I will also try the new dalton weights in the future.....02:D

OK I installed a new purple epi spring.....3 rides and the 4th day it started to open way to easy again. Got black streaks in the bottom of the secondary. It was dense deep snow....and the previuos 3 rides were deep deep days?? Spring pooched that fast?? What do you guys think?

check you buttons i bet you cooked them thats what happened to mine i had to change them.does the nytro come with 14.5mm roller if not i would change to them my clutches run way cooler now.

Ya I'm gonna pull it apart tonight...14.5mm rollers yup. Buttons seem to look good. I put a new belt on at the beginning of the ride...kinda went south from there???

im using a shock wave helix and when my 2ndary did this i turned it 1/2 turn to the right and it helped.i know this isnt the fix but maybe you need more angle.does any one have the part # for the arcticat spring---thanks jim

I'm running a straight 47deg helix. THe snow was really dense and deep. Seemed like ever time I gave it a jab...when the boost rose....it would slip. Something is weird...worked for 3 days and then I got snow on my belt....roasted it. Installed a new one for the next day and the issues started to rise??

did you check the 3 little wear bolts in the back to see if they are letting the belt ride to high.

The belt heght looked could....no squeeling

took the clutch apart last night....everything looks fine. Maybe I'm not getting it in the right hole?? WHich one should I wind it too?
