Maveric or Challenger which is better?

Thread Rating

Getting a new track for my summer project and want a challenger extreme but heard the maveric is pretty good too. Looking for some feedback from people who have ran these in the steep and deep. How do they compare in the deep fluffy stuff?
Thanks
Nate

Maverick is probably the better deep snow track. After that it's worthless unless you flip it around. Flip that beech around, and it grabs nicely. Extreme is a great hook up track and does quite well in the deep. A better all around track IMO, but if you loose a lug it pretty much destroys the track (at least that's what my buddy Jeds extreme did JSCC). He didn't even get a year out of it before he put the Maverick back on flipped around.

Depends... how much mph you got , what snow do you usually run in? It all counts to what track you will like best. Many will tell yu the mav sucks but unless you are running a turbo Id disagree and know ppl who have taken extremes off and went with mavs.

Both good tracks but one i think is better is the challenger extreme. But if i was to get a new track i would get the new power claw. Just my .02

I have been told the maverick paddles are too soft for turbo power. They fold over much easier than the extreme track. I think it depends a lot on the type of snow you ride in and the type of riding you do.

Challenger all the way. I had much better results in all snow conditions with the challenger. The Maverick is OK at best, even after I flipped it. 2 other fellow riders switched to the challenger and would say the same.
I would never go back to the maverick.

Extreme

It's possible that the results may vary depending on what sled you are running, but running stock apexs back to back, one with maverick the other with the extreme, in extremely deep powder, the extreme "freaking killed it" "EVERYWHERE", not even close at all. That was on a brand new sled with brand new tracks. Had to make tracks so the maverick could get around. After they've been ridden a while, it only gets worse as the maverick lays over and breaks off lugs. Can't even imagine how bad the maverick would fall apart on my turbo sled.

ran the maverick on 5 of my turbo sleds that I have had and have never had an issue with any of them. we ride alot of harder pack snow down here in southern alberta with occasional deeper snow and I have no complaints. I dont' think your going to find a best all around track period. one track will do better in certain conditions then the other, and vice versa. Just a matter of finding which track will handle your conditions the best. I just put a longer track on my turbo nytro and had the chance to go with either, and ended up finding a brand new maverick for 350 bucks on here. riding in and out sledding today, we ran alot of hard pack to ice conditions and the track hooked up awesome.

so you'll need to give a little more info on your area and conditions. hard pack, lots of powder etc etc.

We've had mavericks up to 165 km/h on the roads and have never had one fall apart yet. also ridden a couple years with them, had the occasional lug get torn off, but nothing major.
I remember buying the polaris a couple years ago and getting a tag on my brand new sled stating that if you take the sled above 70 mph, lugs will fall off and there will be no warranty.lol and it did happen too. maverick is a great track as is the extreme, some guys must have some friday built tracks as some reports are like this one being quoted.

umm you must be kidding about the mavericks durability. I have about 60% of my lugs left after on 1200 mile season. Challenger extreme all the way. I have power claw on order for next season.

Thanks for the input everyone. I have looked around a little and havent seen anything on the powderclaw, where can I find it? and as for where I ride I have a stiff paddle for here in minnesota and want something better for when I go to cooke city and possibly revy, so something for the deep pow. I couldn't care less if it doesn't perform well on hardpack, but I want it good in long and deep climbs. Thanks again.

FYI if you run an extreme you need to run scratchers on the trail. An extreme on the trail is like a monster truck on the highway....just not made to be there.

just reread my post there and can't see where I might have been kidding??? some of you guys must have tracks that were built on friday, we've got 2 turbo's in our group and not 1 issue with lugs on them. I've got a couple buddies with the extreme track that rode them once and couldnt' get them off fast enough. all they did was trench. and they lost a couple lugs on them as well. go figure. maybe the power claw will be the answer???

I've run a Maverick for 3 seasons now and all in all its held up well even turboed up. I've lost a few lugs but that was my own fault not the tracks. No track is going to hold up on rocks and trees if it is spinning, besides who wants to ride when it's like that anyway.

I ran a Maverik in the stock position for the first 1400 miles of my Turbo sled. I was missing about 9 lugs from that time.
I installed a Challenger, non extreme (2.25), Second ride out snagged a rock. I ran it until the cords started breaking, and the track started to de-laminate. 700 bones out the door.
Reinstalled my Maverik in the reversed position. It hooked every bit as hard as the Challenger did, even with missing the nine lugs. 800 miles now with it in the reverse position, and still going strong.

I would have to really think hard about going to another track. 700 bones to loose after a couple rides sucks. And no matter how I try, I will snag some rocks. The Maverik will tear a lug off. But the Challenger tears the track.

I still would like to try an Challenger Extreme though.....

confused!!!

:confused::confused:
Well I pretty much had my mind made up on a Camo extreme 2.25" for my little (under 150 HP.) sled. Know after this post I am not sure what to put on. I am here in Idaho and ride pretty much light powder. We ride hardly any groomed trails. I think I am still leaning toward the extreme 2.25":):)
