Mass. finally gets things right...

Well shouldn't they....they are paying into their system regardless and they are still a citizen of that country. In essence, to me, what that say's is you have to pay but we won't cover you if you cross the border...wth. Don't they have an embassy in our country.
That's the equivilent of hitting retirement, moving to Costa Rica, and then not getting your retirement checks because you left the country....

Does yours?

Does yours?

No...but's that's the point. It's my choice.
If the government wants to mandate this upon me and I have to pay or else (no choice), then they better cover me wherever I go....especially since health care cost's everywhere else are so much cheaper than here, they would be saving money...I would just have to stay in country much longer because of the waiting times to see specialists....

why this expectation. You don't have it with your current system, why would you expect it for one that might be cheaper?

That's my point....I do when I travel....then cancel when I get back.

Let's look at this in reverse...
Would you be willing to pay extra even if you knew you weren't going to leave the country? Of course not....Why shouldn't the Feds cover you in another country....your paying because your a US citizen and the government has mandated health care for all or else...shouldn't matter where you go..
Like auto insurance....what if you weren't covered once you crossed state lines? Would you be okay with that as long as it was cheaper?

hmmm... that is what those people do to... only their regular insurance is way less expensive and still pretty good too. Sounds like you are still spending less money and getting the same if not better care..

I don't know where your entitlement is coming from. Why are your expectations for care via the government different from you own? Why is the government supposed you extra? I mean, sure they could give you every entitlement you could want, only they will tax you for it. Any govt plan should be similar to a regular plan, kind of like a base line. You can always pay more to get more service...

And that brings us back to....will the government let us chose different levels of "their" plan....perhaps I want to "opt out", will that be an option...?
If I don't have a job, will I still have to pay my "tax" for health care?

good questions.... probably not be able to opt out, but I would imagine you would be able to always pay to get better coverage...

Though they are all guesses since we don't have it and there is nothing that includes any of that in a bill.
