Mammoth Report

don't be so hard on yourself. your not ugly are you??

My nickname in college was BU1 or BU2 ... Butt Ugly one or butt ugly to depending on who I hang out with.

When people see me with my children they ask.
These children are so cute ... who's the father?
I say don't know ... they are so good looking we are still trying to figuire out who the Daddy is.

eh, don't let Don kid you, we spend most of our time digging him out. j/k

hope we can ride soon. Bald Mtn is okay, nothing real special, lots of good riding both sides of 395 from Mammoth north. there is little to no riding south of town. Sonora is where it's at for more heart pumping riding, although I've read of some rule changes up there and not quite sure what the real story is this year.

Just South of Mammoth is one of the best areas around. Little McGee Canyon to the top of McGee Mountain. Then Straight line airport chutes back to Tabacco Flats.

What did you get in town with this storm? Is there enough to start grooming the trail system? What about the est side of 395?

There's about 10 inches at Shady Rest, and only a few inches East of 395. Not much of a storm considering all the hype. Hopefully Mammoth does better on the next round.

A couple photos from today.. The snow is there if you know where to go, but most of the more "traveled" spots are well tracked out already. The wind really did a number in blowing the snow in to select areas.. where it's deep.. it's bottom less..everywhere else, still gotta be a little careful. Hopefully after this next round of storms things will fill in all around.

Got back out today, snow setup. Quit a bit firmer but still lots of fresh tracks to be had, it seems alot of tracks from earlier in the week got filled in. Although some areas are still completely tore up hah. (ie first sections of the ridge).

Found a few good stashes but spent most of the hour doing climbs on the far side of the hill.

It's really odd there are spots where the snow is knee deep and seems bottomless, yet you still see patches of dirt here and there.

..a shamless myspace photo

I'll up on friday morning... should be at the cinder shack around 8am, if anyone wants to ride.

What's the feelings on staying overnite there in the camper? Is it "allowable"? doesn't seem to get much traffic after dark and I doubt Caltrans cares.... just curious..... saves a C-note on a hotel at least for the first nite.

If they gotta plow you can get a ticket, if you need to you can park it at my place for the nite. I can get out and ride for an hour or so friday afternoon during my lunch break.
