Made wife and neighbors cry today. Dammit.

My wife and I went out to lunch with four of our neighbors today, two couples and us. The little gal that was our waitress looked to be about 16 years old. My neighbor Ray was teasing with her and it turns out she is 24 years old and married. I asked her if I could do dishes because I had forgot to bring any money, she said sure !! Anyway, in talking with her during our meal we learned her hubby is coming home from Iraq in a few days and she was all excited to see him as he has to go back in three weeks.

When she brought our check I looked at it and it was 24 bucks. It was in one of those little black deals that folds over. I put a 100 dollar bill in there and closed it up. When she came to retrieve the check for myself and wife I handed it to her and told her I wanted her to keep the change and when her hubby shows up to take him out to dinner on a Vietnam Vet. She left.

A while later she came back to the table with big alligator tears running down her cheeks and crying. She said that she really appreciated what I had done for them. Then all my neighbors and wife started crying. It was all I could do to not bust out crying. I told her that I appreciated and we all appreciate the sacrifices her and her hubby are making to keep our country safe and I was very damn sorry many folks in this country just don't have a clue as to what those sacrifices really are.

Anyway, I was very glad to make her happy. I wish everyone who could afford it would do something like this for a Veteran or a Vets family. It would really help.

Not for bragging purposes, but just to add.....

I am in the coffee business, as well as a million other things. I roast green beans and sell fresh roasted or I just sell the green beans.
A forum I am on came up with the idea to roast 5# and send it to Iraq, to some troops. He found a group of Marines from MT and gave me the address. We sent all sorts of things, coffee, jam, music, newspapers, magazines, etc.
A few weeks later we got an email. You'd think we sent them gold bouillon! It was a blessing to us, to see how much they enjoyed the dry goods.

Good one on ya AB!

That was very nice, good job. More people in this world need to follow your lead.

A friend of mine was deployed to the Persian Gulf for a while, marine gator freighter assualt ship. Everyone sent food. But, I sent him some sci fi books. He said that he really enjoyed them, and loaned them out for heli rides, and desired duty. Best thing he ever got. They do appreciate it.

had to run earlier today when you first posted this ..and I thought to myself ...what a selfish....no good somebe....absolutely worthy of having threads dumped and posts deleted ..absolutely ..and without explanation of said actions for sure !!!

you know folks at the end of the day after all the BS that goes on here there are alot of solid stand up guys and gals ...and some of them deserve WAY more credit than they are given ...and to the panty waist SOBs keep yer trap shut and respect people because behind these letters on a screen ...there actually are people with lives , wives, kids and jobs, patriots and good folk in general ............stop the bashing and name calling and negative rep because those are the tools of negativity ..and if your life sucks ...change it ...don't pas it on to someone else ....there ya go

good for you AS
