M8's, low on horse power!!!!!

Holly crap! Thats a read and a half.:D Funny though. You can always get people fired up with the "mine is better than yours" topic. But what it all boils down to is "you do what you can, with what you have" simple as that. All makes & models have pros and cons. Its what color do you like and how much are you willing/able to spend thats all. Thats just my 2 cents....... Go Arctic Cat!(couldn't help myself:D)

It was probobly 7 or 8 pages back. Just snoopin around and stumbled across it. Title caught my eye since I bought an 09 M8 LE. Its an entertaining thread if nothing else. But with the power issue, nothin money can't solve.:D

Snowest mag. volume 35 no.4 page 37. "Arctic Cat rates the M8's engine at 148 hp." Last I remember Cat claimed 142 horse, SLP dyno was 144 hp. Are the 09's more?

Highest point in Manitoba-baldy mountain-2730 whopping feet. Thats 3 hours away from the nearest UCN campus in The Pas and 5.5 hours from the Thompson campus. If you knew your snow amount facts, than you would know that the South East section of riding mountain national park recieves 6-8" of average snowfall more than the two highest ranges in Manitoba, being the Duck Mountain's and Porcupine Mountains. So before you want to start beaking, know your facts, *** clown! I have a cabin at Zed lake Prov. park, which is north of Lynn Lake, so I know what alot more snow is than the interlake region. When I was 20 I already had my Red seal certificate and was done with schooling, so dont preach that you have so much snow before Christmas, because my schooling was at Keewatin in The Pas and I know what the weather is like. And theres usually not much then. Its not as much fun arguing with someone that knows the facts, than with people that might live a thousand miles away and dont know any better. As for your pedophile dream, no thanks, but at least you live in the right area of MB so that wont be too hard to find. And only 9HP difference between 570 fan and M5, and 570 is 5lbs lighter, so again know your facts yappy. Also, why would I want a cookie for my M5? What are you talking about, idiot stick? Now go chop some wood or you'll freeze to death. I'm from Brandon, come visit me anytime. TTYL

What a funny thread! lol Mt. baldy! I could see mt. Baldy from where I came from in Manitoba. On 13ft. high dougout hill that I used to highmark with my 12 hp Elan, I could see it clearly. It looked about the same height. lol. I will admit they do get more snow in the duck mountains, but nothing like here. I don't miss the cold weather! Nothing compares to B.C. sledding!

Oh, I guess this tread is really about gutless M8's. Yup, I've got a few and they are gutless rich running pigs in stock form! I love em cuz they always come back.

nice write up in latest snowtech, stage tuning the 800 with speedwerx

154 with pipe and Y
160 with pipe,Y and porting
170 925 bb

they didnt dyno reeds, airintakes or cans though :/

Mine is installed already. A little snow is all we need.
Pumpiin' Lead- check with your dealer for demo days. Last spring we ran into the local dealer and factory rep at Molas Pass, Co. and got to ride the M8 AND 1000 for quite a while.
The M8 was an incredible machine. I didn't like it as much as my XP but I had been riding the XP which is unlike anything else for over 1K MILES and it took a few hundred miles to get used to it. XP feels more like a dirt bike. If you like a more seated position ithe M8 is lighter in the front and more responsive, and the power feels pretty good.
All the modern mountain snowmobiles are the greatest thing since sex, and if everyone finds out they'll probably make them illegal.

Guess I got lucky- but just for the record my '08 XP towed in 2 AC's last year and with 1300 miles I rode back to the truck early one time cause I let the exhaust manifold get loose and had to get the right size allen wrench.
Now my new drive shaft and grip heaters are in N/C and I'm ready for another kick**s winter:D with cramps in my cheeks from smiling.

Reliability

Seriously.......you really cant compare the number of m's being towed home compared to the xp's. I think brp started giving the tow buddy away with every xp! If you think the xp's are more reliable than the m's, then you have'nt reached 1000miles on yours yet. Then when you do,get out the visa>

So you must have an XP too? Or do you get all your news and knowledge off the internet forums? Everyone is an expert when no one knows who they are.
The new National Enquirer is out at the grocery store too.
Seriously I did say I might just be lucky to have gotten 1300 relatively trouble free miles from a first year radically new design. I sure wouldn't trade last winter for anything. Had to have it.

no m8's or xps on the snow today.

however did look at the new xfire 800 sp yesterday which is pretty well a m8sp other then a few different things. that sterring system is nifty and the new running board style really adds what was missing before.

Thats cool. I wasnt picking on doo's. One way or another every sled, no matter what make, is going to cost us all money. There all pieces of crap that we love to ride and have fun on. I ride with a lot of M's, Xp's, Rev's and RMK's and I dont hope there sled blows up just to say " I told you! You should have bought a Cat". I want to help get them up and running again because eventually thats going to be me or you being towed home. Its inevitable. Sleds are not the competition, we all know its 90% with the rider. Lets just ride and slay pow all day. NOW SNOW MOTHER****ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!
