m1000 Still having issues, warranty has now expired

Hey there,
Couple of questions for those of you in the "know". I have an 08' demo that I bought from that skank in W. Bountiful last year. Since last Decemeber it has had 3 computers in it, dd leaking, reverse malfunctions, hand warmers, etc. I have stuck with it with the dealer in N.Ogden. Warranty has now expired. Had it up to Togwotee this weekend. Ran great after having the complete wiring harness replaced this past fall. It is still chewing up belts though and the CCU and Wrench sign comes on every time I use reverse. Oh yeah, reverse horn won't stop beeping now. I am tempted to call AC and request that they extend the warranty. When you consider I have had an issue with the sled every ride I have gone on, I wouldn't think that would be asking too much?
Sorry, to my question. Any thoughts on the best gearing and clutching for this sled? It has a yellow/white in the primary now, not sure on weights. Also has, d&d y pipe and Jaws can. Thanks for your help.
Dan

Let me answer all the questions, with a question. Do you have full coverage?

If I could get my hands on it I might help but AC should take it and crush it, then give you another one, that thing is a lemon with that many problems. get a lawyer.

Sad but true, Need 13 incidences before they will LL this toilet

I figure my persistence is out of shear angst and my decision to purchase a cat. (no offense). Have always ridden ski doo and still doo (have an 09' MINT). I prefer the ride of the Cat though in the powder (night and day IMO).
Again, great power, love the chassis and ease of use. Just a freakin toilet though! I feel I have been very patient to this point, BBT out of N. Ogden has been great. Just sick of trailering up there, gas and time down on my machine. Haven't complained or been cross with anyone to this point. I guess I can call AC and the dealer again tomorrow??

Take the y pipe off for sure. Maybe the can too. Then it's stock and they can't say it's aftermarket parts causing the problems.

he has been there done that, the thing is a lemon.

best bet would be go to one of the builders down there, twisted, cutler, rkt, bdx.

Its just disappointing, you bought a cat and had these problems. It should not have the problems other than they do blow belts. many threads about that. I would chalk it up for a loss and buy a 09 m1 or m8 the stock 09 m8 will beat the 08 m1000, stock for stock.

Agreed

This is also the other reason I haven't installed them this entire time. After testing etc, it hasn't made an once of difference. After a post on SW earlier this fall, a rep from AC was on here and gave me his number and contact info and advised me to tell my dealer to replace the wiring harness.....vwhalla! But, still blowing belts, still have CCU and wrench showing when I engage reverse and now the horn won't turn off. Darn iT!!!!

First thing, just unplug the reverse beeper! Not a fix, but save you sanity. It is right next to the brake on the right side. I bet the clown that worked on your drive messed up the reverse switch. The solenoid and switch are on the left side. The drive is very easy to remove and would be a good place to start.

danial, do what i told ya and all will be fine:face-icon-small-win

belts -you still need to add the torque stop, heck id also install another engine mount...call who i told you to call and get one this week, well thursday

monkey wrench - your reverse limit switch is sticking closed, i just removed mine for good.....sure it throws the monkey wrench up when you are in reverse, but reverse still works fine, the monkey wrench goes way when you get out of reverse as the switch is no longer and is a open contact forever.....no big deal to me

sidenote - your horn/monkey wrench wont clear because the limit switch is stuck closed, ill hold a basic elec class for complete tards later in the week:rolleyes:

love ya dan:beer;

also, you can always remove the stupid beeper or turn the slide window on it to limit the sound

Tog was good Hatch!

Primary is a yellow/white. Haven't checked alignment. That's entirely my fault. Just anxious to tear into this thing after it has had so many initial issues. That said, blew one belt this weekend and it ran very, very strong! And yes, it is 50% easier to ride and twice as fun as my xp!

Don't mess with too many things at once. Fix that clutch weight that the allen screw is loose on. It runs damn good, cant even hear the reverse beep when you're riding anyway. That clutch weight rubbing into your spider could be a big contribution to the rpms coming down under load and the belt problem.

I also feel that the heat generated under that monsterous hood is somewhat of a contributor. I am thinking, new spring, maybe a bit softer finish force and check the alignment. Can you get out this week?
Dan

I can help you!:D:beer; Rebuilt a wrecked M1000 over thew summer and finally got it out for a test and tune ride yesterday and feel like it's almost perfect!

Hatchers took a spin on it and can voutch for the setup working pretty dang good! No belt issues yet.

I'd be happy to help!:)

Thank you

Yeah, you have always offered assistance and I appreciate that. But, when you throw in Hatchers, does it hold as much value or validity???:p
Kidding Rayman...I did call AC Customer Service this am and request they review the case and see what they can do. Can't say I havn't been persistent in getting the issues resolved. I just don't know if I have another season of chasing in me? I will keep you posted and do appreciate your extended offer. I will probably bring it down to Ray's this week if AC doesn't offer some form of mitigating process here.

A softer finish rate will just make your rpm problem worse. To bring up the rpms you either need a stiffer spring or lighter weights.

I can probably help this weekend dan.
I agree with maxwell, lets fix the issues we know of and go from there.
Sky is running the same primary spring with no issues.
I bet the weight/pin, spider rubbing issue is the majority of the belt problems.
Reverse beeper should be an easy fix.

Agreed, need to replace CCU first

CCU is toast. Brought it into the dealer yesterday as well as a lengthy chat with AC corporate. CCU needs to be replaced and then hopefully, we can get into the clutching. THanks MIke. Maybe this weekend??
