M1000 or Summit 860 bb?

i have a 2010 m8 snopro 162 and i can beat my buddy's 860bb in his 2007 xrs 159, my m8 got a can and speedwerx intake thats it, and me and my buddy weigh the same and that's a uphill drag race.

BB

Had 4 Rotax 800's since 2003(all new) and over 14,000mi on them. Only problem with any of these engines was after a BB kit was done. Maybe it was just bad luck but I'm a believer in leaving a 2stroke alone and if u need more power from one just get more dislacement and keep it stock. S I guess my money would go to the M1000.
JMO though

I agree with Winterbrew. I have yet to see an M1 outpace my [previously] stock 800R Rev. That was stock, with HPS can and 19/45 gearing. Now that I've had couple hundred miles on my shr860 all I can say is there is no comparison. Not even close to a stock 800R!

i ride with three 860 xps and one ported one, and my buddies ported m8 with an slp kit will beat all of them any day. and the m1000s run right with his m8, so the 1000 should work better. just my .02

I'll say the 1000 is better, but for a different reason. You can get a well set up M1000 with less then 1000 miles for $6000. I just bought one a couple months ago, and it runs away from xp 800s in 4 feet of fresh snow. If someone with a $15000 860 can get by me, so be it. I'll be in front of them again when I'm towing them home

Me and my few buddy's are going for ride this weekend i well get a video if the guy on the 860 xrs is going and I will post the video.

Not saying you're lying....just saying, do you really think that a stock M8 with an intake outruns an 860 rev/xp if both sleds are clutched properly and running well? Your buddy obviously has an under-performing setup, just like many of the M1000's out there.....

I think that's the main point, people keep comparing the two sleds, but what is the reality of having a well set up sled on either side.

if you can't tune a clutch or set up a sled properly, you'll get yer azz handed to you even on a 1200.

I know Kelsey says his 860's rip, I believe him but I've never seen one (not just his) beat ANY of the 1000's I've ridden with.

Chassis, chassis, chassis.... (you seriously want to ride one of those hokey, falling over the front, won't lay over on hard snow... xp's??/:p)

Setup is key for any sled. I did a 860 this year and the first few rides using the common setups recomended on here for a starting point I was wondering what all the hype was about....yes, it ran good and consistant, but our stock 800XP's with GOOD clutching were hanging with or beating it! But with a little tinkering with setup the odds are definatly now in favor of the 860! They make a different power than the 800 and requires different clutching to make it show on the hill for sure....just throwing pin weight at it to get the right RPM leaves alot on the table.

So your of the opinion that if you set up the 860 with a 163 and an equally knowledgable fella sets up the M1 (except for 07) also with a 162 , that the 860 will come out on top ?

Get the XP put the new team tied secondary on it. Leave it stock aside from maybe a head and an intake. You will still beat the M1000. :)

146" with an 860 will not only beat, but Crush an M1. With ease...

For the $$ you have in your 860, I could buy a holdover M1000 for 7k, turbo it, and ride wheelies past you. Or I could have a sweet M1000 without a turbo, still ride anywhere I want, and have a KTM 450 for the summer. No brainer if you ask me

This is the kind of post that keeps me out of this forum most of the time... laughable, silly comments like this.

if I put a pipe on a D7 it'll beat every xp out there!!! It's a fact!!!!!!

compare a mod sled to a stock sled, maybe you're right (bone stock), but what kinda guy buys a sled & leaves tons of HP on the table? Not the kind of guy that's going to buy a big bore.

When I had a Y & intake & p-claw on my sled for a while I ran with an 860 154x16, that he said was set up, in 2.5 to 3' pow. Topped him EVERY time (GOOD rider btw, & 30lbs lighter than me or so) with my little 141x15.

Does that mean EVERY M1000 will STOMP an 860? Of course not.

Continue with the usual silly biased crap that gets spewed here..... I didn't mean to interrupt.
