I have an 09 1000 with all the mods listed below, heres the question. Its a 162 sno pro with the power claw and I really like it...........but, I'm a big guy, 6'5" and 300Lbs with gear on and was wondering about stretching it out to a 174"X2.5" monster. The length doesnt concern me as far as being able to whip it around, but I dont know about gearing and power for the end result, would it be good or bad? I do 90% of my riding in tight technical areas and am always looking for ways to go somewhere a little sketchier, and still make it out.:D Anybody with experience or set ups, good or bad, would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.:beer;

If it where a 174 PC I would say yes but The PC will get you farther in a 162 than a challenger 174. If you compare a 153 PC to a older 162 challenger the 153 will pull out of a hole a lot better and has far better all around riding.
Just put a turbo on it.

wouldnt bother with the 174....had one on my 1000 never really worked that great.....i think the pc is better....

Fair enough! I'm glad I asked and thanks for the feedback, looks like the powerclaw aint going anywhere.

A 174 is a huge improvement, especially for guys of our size/weight. Floatation is king even over HP (of course it helps) in the deep. The Powerclaw is the best mountain track ever and I wish they made it in a 174, however, a 174 floats far better than a 162 no matter the lug pattern and the Camo Extreme is no slouch.

pm dennissawyer, he's running one on his 1000

I've had a 174 on my m7 and it was awesome. Just put the 3" 174 on my 09 m1000 and it is amazing. Cut it down to 15". Our group there's 4 of us with 174s. 3 m1000s and one m8. Once I had mine they all put them on. We like them. Each there own.
