Loudest can for D7?

Why does all of this have to turn into a contest to see who can insult each other?

It blows any constructive talk about this subject right out the window.

C'mon guys.

For me, in my area, the greenies have WAY better lawyers and lobby groups than any sledding organization that I've seen... (how many full time lawyers are employed by SAWS??)

The sound levels of off road powersports vehicles are usually at the top of the list and the one that most "citizens" can relate to.

The old attitude of "I wont give those damn greenies any satisfation" is gettting to be a moot point as they cheer on anyone giving them a good fuel for their public opinion fire.

I think that a fully piped triple sounds wicked with just stingers... But when John Q Citizen on a snomobile trail tour or snowshoe trip with his family gets the chit scared out of little Suzie-Q Citizen as one of us rounds the corner sounding like were going 90 (actually 35mph) it does not bode well for our sport. For the 3% of mountain riders that unload in the middle of nowhere and have no exposure to other people or forrestry service, then the sound of your exhaust doesn't matter. But, if you access thru sno-parks or on shared trails...think about it.

If I had to choose between quiet exhaust and no sledding in MY areas... I'd make that suckker quieter than a new Toyota Prius.

We may be big men compared to a pencil necked paper pusher working for greenpeace, but he's the same kind of guy that is making the laws and controlling the police.... They didn't leave David Koresh alone did they??

In the political arena, The Greenies are the Big Dogs (and they are Republican and Demo to boot) and THEY the one that have been deciding to open or close milliions of acres of riding areas WE SLEDDERS are the little dogs.

In all of the reports that I've read on Caribou closures etc.... noise impact is at the top of the list for enviromental impact by snowmobiles.

I know it sucks, but this is the reality that we live in. Get out and vote, join your local club or at least donate to a usefull sled lobby orgaization

AND

IMO....
Don't poke the gorilla unless you want a piece of the action!

Is Alaska where they send all the stupidist americans? After reading some of this thread I'm glad I was born a canadian

BUt see it is people like you ollie up-high that make threads like this go down the ****er.

Some of you need to grow the **** up and get a life. All the thread wanted some opinions on a can and then you guys jump his **** and mine and the others who want a loud sled.

I even got pulled into this and all i did was ask a question. And what do I know i get insulted, so i guess there right I am 12 year and i am the one who needs to grow up. Kiss my *** ****ers :mad:

Well I just got my SLP can today (used off of ebay, recycling for you tree huggers). She is on the dragon and sounds good...not overly loud, especially in the lower RPM's. After listening to some of the conversation (and some arguements) on this thread, I figure I won't get a louder cannister for now. So I got a can, cut some weight and added a sliver of sound. I guess you can call that a happy medium. Now to the Snowies to see how the old dragon will rip.

Hey bud wait until your grown up to use some grown up language, might get you some respect around here. If you want a loud can , good for you when your in your late 20s you ll start saying what? a lot, late 30s it will be hugh?, late 40s you won't say a thing cause your hearing is shot. Loud cans are lame, they don't help with power or torque, so why use it?

They can drop up to 10lbs. and they DO add anywhere from 2 to 5 horses. BTW, I am a farmer and my hearing has been shot since I was an early teenager. After a bachelors degree later I haven't lost any more hearing and live around equipment a bunch louder than a sled and shoot guns without hearing protection...big whoop you pansy.

I noticed a SIZABLE increase in power with my Sno-Stuff can. Weight was less also, but not enough to affect handling as far as I have noticed. I know that SLPs are popular for a lot of Polaris riders though.

QUOTE: You need not have even seen a snowmobile. Damage to Nordic-trails or finding snowmobile tracks in the Wilderness can be conflict.

^^^ So does this mean that if I encounter ski tracks while sledding, it would be considered "Damaging my Epic Powder day experience"!!!:face-icon-small-ton So who can I complain to about this???

Really, seriously, I took the grown up approach to the others, and look at what happened. I could only take so much crap before i had to speak my mine.

How young do you really thing I am?

PS I only got a couple more yrs before i am in my late 20's.....what did you say something, man my ears are ringing....

It's the central coloradan fungus thats the problem...go back to cali or go up to the ski hill, otherwise leave us the F*** alone!

What if your Big Bore is loud and you can't help it. The guy I ride with runs a UBR 900 BB w/ SLP twins and it's louder than F***! He has to wear ear-plugs.
Then what do you do?

Also another guy in our area runs a Stage 3 Supercharged Apex and it's louder than the BB, I suppose he could run a aftermarket exhaust thats maybe quieter.

But if you buy a can/pipe just for the loudness, Then thats DUM.

Guess what I did today..I ran my loud sled up a mountain, and I scared two or three moose along the way. You are right, they took off like they knew I was up to no good with that loud obnoxious noise. Im pretty sure from all the running they did, If a wolf pack were to jump out and chase them at that very moment, theyd have died, due to lack of sufficient energy to run fast enough previously wasted running from my sled. And to think,it would have all been my fault because of my loud can...lol

So you went with SLP eh? Not a bad can, you should lose 5 pounds or so and its got a nice finish to it.

BTW I would rather lose 2 HP and lose 10 pounds off the front end any day. The sound is just a bonus.

Any of you thinking that Alaska is NOT on the enviro-zealot radar must be keeping your blinders on, or head buried. I posted one link, but there are more. I've read posts from other Alaskans (on SW) talking of areas there being targeted. I've read LOTS of stuff from the enviro's about Alaska. It'd be wise to be pro-active and keep up on land use issues. You can bet the other side is, and when no one shows up to the meetings, or writes any letters/email, guess who is going to lose?

I guess it's just obvious who the people are that are actively trying to keep our lands open for our use, and who doesn't do a darn thing or doesn't care.

It's gonna gain 2-3 horses for me, but yeah you are right about the weight. I read several threads on which can is the best and figured we could do one with the loudest...I guess I stirred the pot up pretty good...oh well.

We all understand that loud cans close riding areas...you guys are beating a dead horse now and frankly, have failed to see the point from the beginning. Most of the razzing and smack talk came due to the fact that park ranger ollie couldnt keep his opinions that had absolutely nothing to do with the original subject, to himself. The obnoxious jokes and talk of smashing eagle eggs was basically for fun and a good read watching you huffed up enviromentalist savvy sledders get your panties in a bunch. Its been fun and all, but seriously, we know, we do care, but when we tell you that we DONT care its almost like picking on a little brother, its fun to watch em squeel. We understand about the issues. Alaskans are some the most environmentally conscious people anywhere. Alot of the time we make stuff up like tell the locals the fishings no good...why? to keep it to ourselves. I run a loud can and when I start seeing park rangers testing for sound levels I will get a quieter can, but until then, Im gonna run them. Its as simple as that. Lets see if we can kick the dead endangered moose some more eh?

Post of the day right there. BUt whats funny is that there will still be somepeople that are goin to jump our sh*t no matter what we say. And they probably hit the ignore button so they be able to read it.
