Going to try the Firehouse trail tomorrow. Im sure the first hill is icy. Going to use the swithchback trail to avoid the bobsled run. Usually pretty easy after that point, well hopefully. Probably being playing in the trees if its flat light, if not i'll see you guys at the lake.

let me know!!! We are headed there Sat..... I would appreciate it!!:beer;

what is this "switchback" trail? the only firehouse one i know about is the one that leads from the parking lot and goes up through the trees. im thinking about blasting up there tomorrow with my buds and riding the trees, since it will surely be snowing....

anybody know this switchback trail?

thanks

Joe

Thats Firemans trail...If you know the trail then you know the right fork at the bottom of the 1st hill that bypasses the "luge run" and switches back to the top of the luge run. I've seen that unmakeable as well if it gets warm there and starts raining down low.

ok, thanks...ive only been to firehouse once...i think we went up the luge run. ive only been to primrose side once too, but we didnt even go the whole way...

too bad such a great area to ride has such horrible access...

anybody riding it tomorrow?

were planning on going up snug on saturday but i wanna know if its worth even trying cause we have a 4 place and i dont wanna get screwed over. Im just a little nervous about it so i wanna know how the road is...

that road is no place for a four place, unless the road is not ice. Also there is very little room to turn around so be there early to beat the crowd,

Rode Lost Lake today. Firehouse Trail was HORRIBLE already!!!! Parking will suck too.

Damn road maintenance creates a real slick spot on the last hill on the road!!!

Both gas cans got stolen at the parking lot. Sticking to Turnagain from now on.

Hopefully the snow doesn't turn to rain again its been in the high 30s.

yea ive only been down that road once a long time ago. Im trying to talk my friend into just going to primrose cause im more farmiliar with it anyways. He doesnt wanna drive all the way to seward i guess. If ANYBODY knows how snug road is please let me know.

LL Trail conditions

How much snow was on the 1st uphill under the trees. Was there a lot of ice and rocks?? How about the creek crossing at the bridge? usually a pretty slick area

There were no slicks spots or rocks, but we were first in and the only ones to come out. I'm sure as more people get on it the hill parts will get chewed up. We never hit bottom and saw no rocks or stumps, just deep pow. There were places where the first guy through put a 4 ft trench in and never saw dirt. One of us had snow shoes so we tried to cut the trenches out and after six of us went up and came down I think there's a pretty good trail in.

Nope, firemans trail is in Seward. It used to start right in the bear creek fire deptment parking lot, thus the name. Now there is a subdivision back behind there so you turn off the hiway about 1/4 mile before you get to the fire station into Lost Lake subdivision. Follow the beaten path through the subdivsion to the back of if to the parking lot.(fills up quick)
