Looking to buy a sled.

I am looking to buy a sled. I have rented them for years but I want to buy one that is fit to me. I am 6'5" 270lb. All the people I have talked to have either suggested arctic cat or ski doo. I want to be able to ride standing up without being to bent over. and sitting down without eating my knees. I would like to here all suggestions concerning this matter so I can get the right sled.

You can put a bar riser on just about any sled. Don't buy a sled just for the handlebar setup! If you can, try out a bunch of different sleds. For all that money, you should be confident that you are buying what you feel is the best sled for YOU.

If you go used look for an 06 rev 800, try to find the 151 for your size the power and rider position would prob be good. If you want the new route, try to find an 800 dragon and throw some new risers at it. The seat height is much taller than the M's.Maybe let people know what sort of riding you like to do, ability, that sort of stuff, price range. If you let people on here know those things their advice will be alot better

LOL, I hear ya. I'm "short" for my "weight".

Whatever you do, don't settle for anything less than a 159"/162" track. Big guys like us need 'em.

Anymore, they're all pretty good. Obviously, ride 'em all if you could. But at least go sit on them and find a good dealer. A good dealer will make whatever sled comfy for YOU.

I'm in the same size category as you my friend.. 6'3" 265 here... I found that the 05-07 rev 800 chassis with a few mods are really nice as far as handeling in the snow, and having enough power to tote me around.. the polaris edge/newer iq chassis are really nice also.. the 800 motors are very good for making good power.. I personally didnt like the m chassis cats at all.. always seemed to smack the heck out of my knees when jumping.. however the m1000 does have good power for me unlike the m8..

like stated above go for 159-162 or 151 (16 wide).... Look at getting an aftermarket rear skid with really help out too
I decided to go the turbo 4 stoke way for this season.. and dont think i will ever look back now.. :D

hope this helps

I have been riding for about 10 years out here in wyoming. Alot of mountains, and dodging trees. I would like to keep the price arond $5500.00 if possible. Basiclly we do just general riding what ever we can find.

A little guy, I see.:D

Believe, I fit into this category too. Like Larry said, find a good dealer. I started by riding what my buddy's did. That way they knew what I had for maintenece ect.....

The longer the track the better, and I would say something 800ish. You'll like the horsepower when you need it.

while i dont weigh that much i am tall 6'3" and ride an 04 rmk and it is perfect. i have risers and the seat is perfect height. pulls good with the 800.

my suggestion is to look for an 800 02-05 with a 151+ track.

Reguardless of what sled you go for, you should have your suspension set up for your size. That will make a huge difference in all aspects of riding. I'm not just talking about stiffening a spring here and there. Have the shocks revalved and go for stiffer springs if nescessay. For that price range, you should find lots of rev 800's and M-7's. Both great all around mountain sleds and awesome in the trees.

You can find left over still brand new rmk 900s for $4900. There is a reason for that. Some people like them and have worked some of the kinks out of them. Most 900 poo owners dropped them after the first year though.
