go to a local ford dealer ask to borrow the truth about trucks DVD!

you will get the skinny on the tundra! A ford ranger has a tuffer frame!!!

Hey hawkshot! lookaround the net why did they use superdutys to build their plant in texas!

And your point is what? That the companies hired to build the site used Fords? So what?

Most of the construction guys use 3/4+ tons, and again Toyota doesnt make them, so stop comparing them.

Dont expect anything better than 4 mpg's hauling a trailer through the mountains. Spend even more money on electric brakes and cry and whine the whole way up the hill being passed because you can only go 40 mph. Sounds like a great truck to me. Nothing but an oversized tacoma with an electrical night mare waiting to happen.

Any one out there put some miles on one of these? Just about ready to take the plunge into a new truck and would like to hear your experiences with the new Tundra, good or bad.

You may want to subscribe to Automotive news. I think that's what's it's called. They have some good info on cars and trucks in there. Stuff you won't find in magazines or stuff like that. I was really surprised to see the quality problems Toyota is having with the new Tundra in terms of hauling and some general initial quality of them.

I don't have any idea on Toyota in general, I'm just saying if you want info on them it may be worth the time and effort to subscribe to that service.

And on the assembly. How many of the "American" cars parts are made in the US? And they don't even "assemble" them here.

Apparently you haven't been around long enough to realize that Dodge's are made in (or near) Detroit, Michigan, GM, builds in Flint, Michigan, and Fords are made in Kentucky.

Funny, last time I checked, Michigan an Kentucky are both part of the U.S.

My truck has the "Kentucky Truck Plant" sticker right in the back window, and the vin # starts with a 1, as does every truck made or "assembled" in the USA!!!

That has not been my experience. May drop to 8 mpg's but won't get passed by anything with a gas engine. I can go as fast as I dare drive all the way up and over Jackson pass.

I went to the dealer and looked at these new tundras as they look awesome and toyotas run forever for the most part. I found the new trucks to be wayyy overpriced and the rating for fuel mileage was horrible. and thats if it gets what they say. My next truck will def. be a diesel as the power and fuel performance is a ton better. my 2 cents. vance

Vance before you say that about diesel you may want to do some homework.

Performance when towing no one will argue that.

Paying the price to do that in this day and age just don't pencil out at all.

The new diesels don't get better mileage then there predesors, they get worse, and in some cases much worse. When it comes time to buy, sit down and start drawing it all up and penciling it all out. You will be shocked! Thinking of it going down? Probably not for a long time as restrictions and emisions get tighter year over year.

I bought an '07 Tundra late last June. I now have 5500 miles on it. I consistently get 17-19 mpg. Lots of low end grunt and power all the way thru.
The camshaft issue has been resolved, it was on the part of the first run of Tundra's from the Indiana plant. The end gate issue is being resolved case by case, i don't think they have made any changes to the '08's end gates, but i am sure it will come.
Sure the Tundra is assembled in the USA, but how many parts come from off shore? Probably the same number of parts that come from off shore suppliers for Ford, Chev and Dodge.
As far as going to the Ford dealer to watch a video, if you can show me proof that the test was conducted evenly and fairly for ALL brands of trucks, i will believe it, but if you can't prove to me everyone else, well then, that vid don't show didley....
A forum that was sent to me was www.tundrasolutions.com
BTW, the 2 last "icons" of made in the USA have most of their castings and and ALOT of components come from off shore, these 2 companies name are Caterpillar and Harley Davidson!
Flame on.

slgdy,

Wont get passed by anything with a gas engine. I bet I could pass you in your Tundra and your two place enclosed with two sleds going up Jackson pass. With a stock GMC 3500 8.1L LWB pulling A four place enclosed with five sleds. Whats that? Not fair, big block vs small block. Well it is a much heavier (curb weight) pickup, and pulling a heavier load. Still not fair? OK I'll still do it with a new GMC 1500HD with a 6.0L. But with the same load as you.

American companies with parts coming from off shore profits still go to the USA. Profits as in money, cash, dollars, mullah, revenue. Not to some Asian country.

OK let's do it. Your 1/2 ton GMC against my 1/2 ton Toyota.
