Looking for info on 07 Toyota Tundra

Thread Rating
1.00 star(s)
Don't have an 07/08 Tundra but I have had a 98 Tacoma ,85,000 trouble free miles before I traded it in on a 00 Tacoma. The 00 Tacoma now has 95,000 miles on it .It would have a lot more miles on it now, if not for the price of gas(drive the economy car).Never let me down.Need to replace the timing belt and water pump, because the manual says so but, this will be the first real maintanance.Of course it doesn't tow like a diesel but I'm happy with it.Know a co-worker who has a Toyota 85 turbo 4 P/U with 287,000 miles and still running a 11,300 ft. pass every day(rusty but a runner).I'm very happy with Toyota reliability.Thinking it's a safe bet .Pete

There's a forum you should check out.
ToyotaSolutions.com
Of course it's biased since it's a Toyota forum but you can get a lot of info about it on there.
They'll even tell you what bolt on's work and what doesn't.
Sounds like the supercharger for it is around the corner!!!!

I WAS going to get a Ford until my Ford/Toyota dealer MADE me drive a tundra, it's like the rev was and in a class of it's own.

I sold my 99 Powerstroke for a my new toy 07 Tundra I have 3000 miles on it.. I get 12 to 13 with the 35's on it in town.. So far like it.. its a crazy thought to be able to pull into a parking garage and park compared to my old silver tank.. I like the tank but i just didn't need it anymore..

4100 miles on my 5.7 Crew Max and love it. Went to buy a GMC to replace my 05 1500 Crew Cab 5.3 Silverado.Drove a Tundra while they were bringing me the GMC to drive and had to have one. PM me if you have any questions, did a ton of reading and test driving before I bought.

It is underpowered compared to a diesel, even though they are totally different classes, this is important.

Just accept it. It is a foreign truck that sucks, even though it is made in the USA. No matter how great it is some of these people will never accept it because it is not Chevy/Ford/Dodge.

Let me just change one thing hawkshot99, but very trick advertising toyota has. okay what it should say is Assembled in the USA NOT MADE IN THE USA, not one part is made here everthing is shipped to Texas from Japan and assembled there.. It will never compare to the diesel truck ever IMO.

Toyota will pay the costs to replace the entire engine of any new Tundra with a failed camshaft.

Would Ford, Chevy or Dodge do that?

GMC, Chevy Engines won't do that and yes they would because of the warranty.. I do KNOW for sure as I deal with them everyday:D :D

Why do American people insist on buying cars and trucks from a country that wants to see America fail. Oh sure Toyota's are "assembled" in the USA and put good Americans to work. But all the profits go back to Japan. And they laugh all the way to the bank. Some GM's are made in Canada and some Fords are made in Mexico. The profits from these sales go to the U.S. economy. I much rather buy a car or truck made in one of those countries and help the U.S.. Regardless of price or quality. I guess I wouldn't be so prejudice if it was as easy to sell GM, Ford and Dodge in Japan. But it is not. There are huge tariffs and taxes to get a GM, Ford or Dodge into Japan. That's not fair at all. Believe it or not but Japanese people would buy American autos but their government wont let them. Every make has there lemons. U.S. auto makers have just as reliable cars and trucks as Asian makers. Never have I had a problem with my American vehicle that the warranty didn't cover or the maker fix through a recall or other ways. I tried to keep from posting on this thread. Cause in the past I have been flamed for being a proud American. So flame on. Proud Americans are getting fewer and farther between. The USA feeds the world and world hate the USA.

There is a difference between proud and stupid, dah, at least I think there is?

Sorry hurricane, I hi-jacked your thread. They are very good pick-ups. It's a free country and you should buy what you like.

It will never compare to a diesel, I agree with that entirely, but when comparing it to ford/chevy/dodge 1500's there always people who say it is not powerful enough, there diesel is way stronger. Well great, your diesel is way stronger than every other 1500 too, but they never say that.

And on the assembly. How many of the "American" cars parts are made in the US? And they don't even "assemble" them here.

If the American car was identical I would buy them as well, but no way would I pay more for less. I don't have a lot of money, and am not gonna waste it like that.

I am a very proud American, but am realistic.

14 to 14.5 around town 16 to 17.5 on the highway. Same as my 5.3 w/4.10's got but much more power. Haven't towed yet,Dad won't unhook the DMax from the trailer.

I like mine. Great power, decent gas mileage. The two things I don't like are the akward insrument panel and the old school 4 wheel drive system. The traction control system is useless.
I would get the TRD version with bigger tires and more aggresive tread.

Pretty similar numbers to my F150, actually (of course you've got a ton more HP with the Tundra). I am curious to know how much it'll drop when towing.

Mine dropped from 17 mpg at 75 mph to 10 mpg at 75 mph pulling a 14 ft. v-nose, two place enclosed trailer.
