Looking at a Nytro

Looking at a leftover 40th Nytro and looking for some input from you guys that have a year in the saddle.

How does this sled work for boondocking style of riding? I'm not into climbing, just looking for a good solid sled to ride in the back country, boondocking in the trees all day? How does this sled do in stock form? May look to add a turbo or supercharger in the future, but just wondering with some good clutching, exhaust, and some lighter parts how this sled will do in the trees?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

I have about 1500 kms on my nytro and I love it, Im not a big climber either but when I do it holds its own. It is awsome in the deep tree sections and sidehilling, but is a little tippy. The only two things that I have problems with is (1) the rear skid it bottoms on jumps over 5 ft , i'm going with the timbersled skid this year, it should save me 38 lbs, and (2) when the sled is rolled oil will leak out through the breather hose. A one way valve for under $5.00 will fix this problem though, Ok $20.00 if u include the beer while installing it. lol.

I rode my nytro a couple times before the turbo was added and it was a blast to ride. I didn't come close to the himark the xp's in the group put up, but it was awesome in the tree's. we had a little uphill section with some 3-4 foot deep snow through tree's and a ravine and I broke trail up this section. waited for a while and came back down to find the xp's stuck 3/4 way up. not saying the xp's couldn't make it, more rider error, but none the less fun to take jabs at them afterwords.

Be careful with the one way valve on the breather.....I believe it's designed to both relieve over pressure AND under pressure in the crank, so a one way valve would allow a vacuum to develop.....
 
I ride a stock 40th, not the biggest climber but all my bros are so sometimes I got no choice. I prefer boondocking really and I think the sled owns. I'd like to get a turbo but I just can't afford it for a while.

Definitely got to get used to the tip factor but once you do, it's a dream. Main complaints stock are you gotta change the bar setup, I cracked the stock bar clamp last year, then bent a powermadd on a good 10-12 roll over, now I'm putting on Rox riser. Rear suspensions sucks, but Timbersled is the solution, minus the 38lbs. Mine is pretty toast after one season, I've got no rebound anymore. I'm hoping to replace it before the season starts.

Oil drool on rollover is an issue, but strap an extra liter inside the nose and you'll be good, I rather leak a little oil on the few times a rear I roller her than risk a vacuum. Else, I blew a limiter strap last season. But I was toying with them a lot trying to get it dialed, they seem to break pretty easy. Guess thats why you have two.

Next week I'm ordering up a Aeen exhaust, drop 7lbs and boost 6hp, best bolt on I can find outside of putting on a sportbike exhaust and I don't want the noise:

You'll love it once you get used to the way it handles. Took me quite a few miles (coming from an M8) but once I did I had an absolute blast.......funnest sled I've been on until I got my T-Apex:D

Nytro isn't the greatest climber in stock form but it is SSOOOOO much fun to boondock, jump, drop off whatever!!!!!!

You won't be disappointed.:beer;

Not that I've come across yet. I've put some ideas on paper, but it gets rather complicated trying to allow a dual flow system that limits leakage at the same time. Thought about a shutoff valve actuated from the handlebar, maybe one that grounds out the kill switch at the same time.....but that would induce another failure point that could leave you stranded....maybe a quick work around electrically if it failed....dunno....like I said, lots of ideas, no action yet on my part.
 
I put 1000 miles on my 40th. trail and a much boondocking i can get. It took about three ride to get the balance down, as long as you are faily quick at getting the sled upright or at least 45 deg. it does not leak i only had i leak once last year but i keep it in mind and try to get it upright fairly quick. If you have the money the rear skid needs some help Timbersled good option i'm going to put heavier tortion springs in and see if that helps some of the guy's on TY have done it will good results. If you do a full day of boondoking you will need gas by 60-70 miles. i seem to run out 5-10 miles from the truck if it sa good day of ridding ( newsnow and lots of playing). I have a trailtank on order. I will be ording a clutch kit from Hartman for sure this season. I might do a exaught also depent on the review of AAENS or the one Hartman has. THe power seems to get if full strength by 500miles. i would not clutch untile you have mover than that as you will have to redo it. just some of my thought. Its a blast to ride I had to start it up last week just to hear it.
 
The Nytro is great, I would still get another one even if I was not going to turbo it. I only put about 300 miles on mine before I added the turbo, but I thought is was really fun for boondocking in stock form. If I were to ride one without a turbo I would get a timbersled rear and a arms, and a new handlebar riser set up and thats about it, oh and also a new track.
 
I agree with all the coments. I rode mountains once and foothills and trees about 5 times on stock Nytro. Never had it leak oil and yes I did roll it in the mountains. My last machine was a 98 mxz. I can't believe how much better this machine is. It did bottom out once in a while. But my only complaint is it would trench a hole to China if you were not carfull, once I got used to it not so bad. I would recomend.
