look what I found in my clutch

I was looking for this spring and guess where I find it? LOL How can that possibly be , If I was trying not to loose it it would of fell out through a pin hole and if I was hoping it fell out it would of course lodge itself into my primary. And the amount of belt dust I found was staggering , It was as though a bird made a nest and this is just from one belt grenading , I can imagine what the clutches of people that blew multiple belt look like.:eek and I removed the ring gear I hope my sled doesn't blow up.

its a balance weight for the primary

A bit off topic but I have a question that is probably a stupid one regarding the balance weight in the TRA VII.....

I would have to imagine that it is VERY IMPORTANT that this balance weight/shim goes back in the same slider guide location in order to achieve having the clutch balanced properly... Is this correct? Just trying to learn about this TRA VII clutch as it is new to me.

Thanks,
-John

07-08 800r's had ring gear on primary and large counter weight on flywheel.

09 800r's have ring gear on primary and NO counter witght on flywheel.

So if BRP removed the mass from one end of the crank, why couldn't you remove it from the other end. Seems like all or nothing would be better. Run weights on both ends or no weight on either end.

That is why some of the 09 recoil part numbers are different from 08 is because of the lack of the counter weight on the flywheel.

I know of a few with 09's running no ring gear with no issues, really helps with throttle response, less rotating mass.

That balance weight should never be removed ... it's pressed into that slider galley.

rockymking,
Thanks for the info. I could have sworn the last time I had the TRA off and split on my 08 XP that the weight/shim was removable but I certainly could be mistaken as I didn't try removing it...
