I just posted this in the Utah section, but I thought I'd let you guys take a look as well. I hiked Hayden Peak in the Uintas this morning to look for Mountain Goats and I found quite a bit of this strange white stuff.

i saw about 14 goats right where the road goes over Baldy pass last week....but i'm sure the hike was fun anyway.....:)

Were they on the east or west side of the road? I have a tag for the east side of the highway. The hike was good.....I actually enjoy it.:beer;

congrats on pulling the tag.
Billies make great trophies, but the meat sucks.
There hide is the thickest i have ever cut into. Hopefully after you shoot the goat, it doesn't slide down off of the cliff. been there done that downclimbed 2000 vert to get to the billy my bud shot.

How do you expect to find goats with all that white stuff around there? LOL

Did the fall destroy the horns? I think that is one of the biggest challenges of the hunt....being patient enough to wait for a shot that the goat will not tumble all the way down the mountain.

I plan on making the whole thing into jerky.

I know it makes it tough picking one out from all the snow drifts still out there. LOL. Luckily it's going to be hot the next couple of weeks and it should melt off pretty quick.

one horn broke off but, it broke in the skull plate and the skin held it on.
the hide was pretty beat up and a few rips and tears, but nothing the taxidermist didn't sew up.

Congrats on the hunt. Goats live in tough places and you need to be in excellent shape to get them out of there. Personally they rank up there with the mountain sheep in my mind. I am jealous.
