Long term effects from detonation?

Today my sled got a little hot. I found an air leak on the carb boot. I know I had some detonation going on and lucky I didn't burn down. I hit some pretty high egts, alarmingly high. Pulled plugs and they were pretty lean. Piston domes didn't seem to have any pitting, wash showed lean also. Are there long term effects to the engine after detonation? It ran great the rest of the day, wondering if I am on borrowed time with the internals.

I think it's possible to catch it in time and have the engine live. Were there any aluminum particles on the plugs? That is starting to get past the point of no return.

I didn't see any traces of aluminum on the plugs.

If the compression is good, and there is no evidence of a meltdown, you may be ok. The engine won't hold a grudge for getting close to disaster.
