Hey everybody, im looking for a nice place to stay in march near loveland or vail. We typically ride togwottee but we are visiting some family in march. Hoe is the riding around that time, and also where is a good nice place to stay? Thanks in advance for replies!

For riding in the Vail area I recommend this place:

This place is located in Red Cliff, CO. Red Cliff is on the other side of Vail Pass. You can ride all of Vail Pass, Lime Creek and Camp Hale. The rooms are super nice and affordable Probably $80-$140 a night depending on the season. Mangos is across the street and a popular place to ride to from Vail Pass to get some lunch and beers. I talked with the owner Erik and I think he will be selling fuel this winter as well.

It is truely ride in and ride out. If you want other options let me know, but that is a pretty cool place to go.

good recommendation! red cliff is a very small sled friendly town. fuel is definetly needed. closest gas station is minturn 20 minutes away. btw you will be paying 5 times that much if you want to stay in vail and good luck finding a place to park your trailer in vail.

Loveland and Vail are a long way apart. Are you talking about the Loveland the ski resort or town? Give us some more details because Colorado is very diverse in accommodations.

You realize Grand lake is nowhere near loveland or vail right?

Red cliff is WAY cooler than gaper lake!!

Oh crap, just noticed you're a cheeseball:pizza:, you'll love Gaper Lake!!!! (I'm from N. of Madison... just hassling you!)

Not a bad choice for a vacation spot, especially if you have wives/kids, that need a little more than a bar and motel room. Snow will be plenty deep in March. A bigger town than RC, though RC would be a great spot too, just not much besides the bar and motel. Huge trail system at GL if your into that and off trail riding/terrain that ranges from mellow to crap BCIL's pants extreme. I doubt he's even ridden there :rolleyes:, just jumping on the bandwagon of posers who don't ride that country and know it like the back of their azz. I'm from MN, so just hassling you... bwhahahahahaha :beer; :beer;

Hell bushy, I can hardly SEE the back of my azz to get to know it, could you give me a hand with that????:D

I've ridden there, and I do know there are a bunch of great places in the area, but the amount of trail riding needed to get there & the amount of d-bags you have to watch fly by you at 70 on the trail are more than I need to see again.

Normally I recommend Grand county over Vail area, but grand lake is just gaper central.

Now grand Mesa... some great riding there & about zero sally trail riding, just go where you want to... great terrain!

yeah not looking foreward to the trail riding out of GL. We come out there to get away from the fruit loops that ride around here on there snowy highways... hahaha
CANNONMAN you will be getting a call!

This is really very simple, ditch all the other places and just come to THUNDER MOUNTAIN LODGE. All your problems solved!!! www.thundermountainlodge.net

When we stayed up there it was nice, we enjoyed it. I hope a few improvements are made (water pressure!!). We also stayed on a Sunday night and basically ended up driving to Junction for dinner because everything was closed. That was a bummer.

Ok, people are really taking you to a different part of the state. Leadville is another cool place to visit although it is a little south of what you were looking for. Groomed trails from the High Riders club and lots of cool history up there.

Elaborate more on what you want (details). Between all of use we can hook you up. Red Cliff is the snizzle though. Nice hotel, sweet bar/rest. and you can ride your sled right to the doorstep of the hotel or bar.

LOCATIONS

Doodah,

In response to your question, I have ridden quite a bit in the Vail/Vail Pass and Leadville area. I am also a member of the High Riders club. I have always had a good time in and around that area. Stopped numerous times in Red Cliff for chow and beers. Neat little town and you probably can't go wrong staying there.

Having said that, I have also locked on a stay with Cannonman at the Thunder Mountain Lodge for the same timeframe, for our anniversary. Never having ridden there I don't know what I don't know but Cannonman has been very accommodating. During the last two years (by the way, I have only been in CO for two years) everyone that has stayed at the lodge has nothing but grand reviews. The month of March has been better in Grand Mesa, than it has been in Leadville. Hope my fellow club riders don't disown me!

If you need anything else, feel free to send me your questions.
