gotta get the big double cones with a double screen deck!!!! it was awesome when runnign, but maintenance was a b!tch!!!! and changing screens REALLY sucked!!!! but it kept us hoping in the loader alright!!!!! you ever go over the edge of a 100 ft pile with the loader, on purpose!!!!!!!!!!!! now THAT'S a rush, and scary as all hell the first time!!!!!!!!!!!

We only replace mantle's and liner's once a year and the impact shoes and anvils are daily, the screens ain't so bad.

Ya man flat topping piles was a rush, only rolled 2 loaders and a 8r in my operating years!!:D

get all the knowledge you can on as many pieces of equipment as possible!!! i've found that once you are good at one piece, all the others kinda come along that much easier!!!!! running equipment is basically all the same, equipment wise, just gotta learn how to apply that piece to it's particular job! good luck!!!!!!:beer;:beer;

liner's once a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish, about 4-5 every summer, per cone!!!!! what kinda tonage do you do in a summer!!!!!! our boss would give us big bonuses for over 1 million tonnes in a summer, and we always hit it, cause it was well worth the extra effort and work to make it happen!!!!!

i did run over one tester's S10 my first year though!!!!:eek::D:D it was totally his fault though. we were about 4 hrs north of yellowknife, at night, and this retard comes into the pit, and parks his truck at the bottom of my feeder ramp and gets out and walks away from it!!!!!! the ramp was really long by this point, and i was dumping into the feeder, came roaring down in reverse and thump thump, right over his truck with all the tires!!!!! flattend that bugger out good!!! he got all freaky on me, bu then the foreman almost throttled him and ran him off the site!!!! 988's a re big and everyone need sto watch out for it, not the other way around!!!!!!!! had a good laugh afterwards too :D:D:D:D

if you want to pull some good coin, go dig for the utility companies. I made 35.86 on the check plust the package, ot was dt and I was home every single night. 60k for 8 months of work aint bad.....

course' all my digging was in the most crowded ground there is, loaded with other utilities, or smack up against someones home. It prolly did not hurt that I also weld on live steel gas mains.

now I have graduated to bridges....they pay pretty fair too;)

When i retire from my desk job, i'm going to run a loader or excavator... best 2 summers ever were spent playing in the dirt!!!

Wow I could handel $45hr but I don't know about them loaders. The bigest I've run is a 644 JD. Work on farms in feedlots running tractors, loaders and skidsteers.

QUOTE]the Heavy Equipment op. school so ill learn how to run alot of different pieces of equipment[/QUOTE]

I don't know if it was the guy's we got or what but every one of the guys out of that Montana school sucked. They could run it but had no clue past that I just don't think that school covers things very well outside of the controls??? To me I think the best guys out there are the ones that started on the pit floor or in a ditch and worked there way up in the field. That way they see every point of view once they get a chance at the seat and they know what there labor is going through and what to watch out for.

I know it sucked and my back will pay for it just my 2cents.
