loader operator

why do you guys have such big loaders? are you mining or just making road base and crushing sewer rock etc. around Mn. a 5yrd scoop is about the biggest you will see unless you get up to the iron orr mines,

On a portable crusher a 988 feeding along with a 966 to load belly dumps or Smaller Rock trucks like a 773. On Mine reclamations we use 777's and a 750 Komatsu shovel with a 7 yard clamshell...

get all the knowledge you can on as many pieces of equipment as possible!!! i've found that once you are good at one piece, all the others kinda come along that much easier!!!!! running equipment is basically all the same, equipment wise, just gotta learn how to apply that piece to it's particular job! good luck!!!!!!:beer;:beer;

True and also run the biggest pieces of crap on the job. If you get decent on an old worn out loader or hoe, you'll be alot better on a new one.:beer;

QUOTE]the Heavy Equipment op. school so ill learn how to run alot of different pieces of equipment

I don't know if it was the guy's we got or what but every one of the guys out of that Montana school sucked. They could run it but had no clue past that I just don't think that school covers things very well outside of the controls??? To me I think the best guys out there are the ones that started on the pit floor or in a ditch and worked there way up in the field. That way they see every point of view once they get a chance at the seat and they know what there labor is going through and what to watch out for.

I know it sucked and my back will pay for it just my 2cents.[/QUOTE]

hmmm well ****...that makes me kinda wonder how worth it that it will really be....i better get alot of time on the equipment and learning alot of stuff for the $14k ill be paying for the frikin thing! my boss owns an exc. co. and runs a ranch so i have some time working down in trenches and stuff so i have somewhat of an idea of what is goign on lol. either way i am going to be trying to get in on everything and get some experience some way or another!

small loaders,
the ones we run in the mines are 992's and 994's, with hi'lift kits and either 17yd spade nose rock or 24 yd coal buckets
thems some big old loaders!!!!!!! we ran 988's with a 12 yard bucket to feed the crusher!!!!!! that was fun too, as the pit wall was moving farther and farther from the crusher, it became more and more fun for me!!!!!!!!

So do you guys in Canada have the same rules in the pits as the US as far as MSHA???
what rules are those???????? that the loader is generally the biggest toy in a crusher pit thus it ALWAYS has right of way!!!!

people always forget that someone wants to PAY them to learn!!! I started at a sawmill, and now run a 966f w/a 11 yd bucket feeding a hog fuel boiler.

lesson here- got paid to get good on a D-7, 966f, log loader, and got a boiler lic. to boot; all on the company dime!! Sure, starting out stunk, but now I have experience that a week long school won't cover.

that's true too. i learned on the job, and in a hurry too. i got to make 2 trips with the loader guy, i was a shovel man(lowest on the totem pole) at the time, and he wanted a break. gave me 2 trips with him and jumped out. didn't even go for a ride with me, just got out and said have at it!!!! oh yeah, and it was dark!!!!!! you learn in a hurry especially when a double crusher it waiting on YOU!!!!!!
