Lines that may get your wife to "OK" that need sled purchase.

A buddy of mine was wanting a new sled and his wife asked him why he wanted on when his older sled was perfectly fine. She just did not understand.
He explained to her that his King Cat was out of date and getting ragged around the edges. Then he told her that it would be a a similar scenario to her wanting a new sunday church dress because her old one was out of fashion and showing wear.
She then totally understood him and wanted him to get a new sled.
He's got a new Pro RMK now! go figure...

I simply said...aren't you tired of me putting money into my current sled now for 12 years?

Re: permission

I've never asked for permission to purchase a sled, but we do discuss whether or not it is in the budget for the year. I don't finance my sleds, just save up and purchase new when I feel I need an upgrade. I might add that we alternate purchases, too - usually I will buy new one year, and she will get a new one the following year, with the exception of this year - we snowchecked two new ones. A common mistake I find is when guys want to give their wives, girlfriends a sled that has been thrashed or is ancient, and wonder why they don't enjoy the sport. I do everything I can to tailor the new machine to her, whether it be handlebars, skis, or suspension work. A good way to look at it ask yourself: "Do I want to ride that machine?" If you don't, chances are she won't, either. Another idea is let her pick her own ride - you may give suggestions as to which may be the best machine, but get her involved in the buying process and let her know it is HER sled. Food for thought - I've been married 25 years and have the best, most reliable riding partner anyone could ask for - can't ask for more then that...

im currently working on "getting the gf into the sport" i bought two sleds now neither of which will she prolly ride 800 mod race sled extended will be my spring sled and a mountain cat 900 for a climbing sled haha told her they were both for her. thinking she will end up on a 600, something she can pull over on her own. now i have to work on getting a bigger trailer for the new additions and then after i get the trailer i better have a diesel pickup instead of my little gasser ;)
