Lightning weights or IS new turbo weight

Called up an ordered 5 sets of lightning weights today. Gonna try to get an NA setup working next season.

Thinking-
120-310 in the primary
120-220 and 46-32 helix in the secondary
Geared to 2.33
Sled is a belt driven 155 2.6

Anything I should change?

Likely going to run an slp pipe as well. Any advice on where to start weight wise for 170lb guy at 8000-10000? 66?

I run the helix with a 100-200 spring, works good and no probs with reverse or anything. Sealevel tho. 70gr weights are to heavy for me, going to find 68 and even 66 to try. Ran the gold spring, 90-275, but switched to 110-290. Not enough so weights are inbound.

Will also tune more on this next season.

TCP has weights in the 66 and 68 range available still.
 
Trying to do some math on drilling out lightning weights, all 4 holes drilled to 3/16 will drop approximately 2.875 grams? Can anyone confirm that?

I see someone also mentioned these are tempered, will a carbide tip bit and drill press do the trick?

Got to thinking about this question... the heavier the weight, the thicker the weight, and therefore the amount drilled with x-bit totally depends on which weight you start with.

I drilled out my 66.9 set today, 1.02 grams per hole at 3/16". I used a Norseman bit and a press. Drilled through no problem. Not sure if the metal is soft or the bit just sharp. Guy at fastenal gave me the bit and said to come back and buy a set if I was happy with the bit- he assured I would be. Ill be picking up a set next time I'm in town.
 
So first gen lightning weights had no holes drilled in them. Second generation does. That's where the confusion came from. So I have second generation lightning weights so everything is back to happy town.

I wonder how Dan's V5 weights compare to the lightening weights he made.
 
with out having the real one next to its hard to tell? then run them side by side?

I sold my sled and never had a chance to run TRS setup. I have two sets of Lightning weights - 68.5 and 71.1 - for sale, new never used.

I have a brand new primary clutch i bought from Indy Dan. Balanced, indexed and shimmed for Lightning weights.

I also have 46-34F ER and 46-32F ER helix for sale.

Ok,,,, open for discussion again, ssssooo last year only the lightning was the way to go,, now the ID is also working, glad to hear we do have more than one option!Nay sayers!
 
I have two 16’s with silber turbos, one with TRS set up and one with IS setup rode both last week and both are awesome, top end about the same, response from idle about the same midrange is awesome on both,which ever way you go it works!

Did you shim the spider for the IS weights?
