Lightest M sled and How did you get there?

09 M12 460ish dry

I started with an 09 so alot of the stuff used to lighten the previous year models is already done. It is 555 in these photos wet with the stock silencer. It does not have the stock can on anymore so I guess about 545 ready to ride.

oil injection delete
boss seat
bd-x black boxx
d&d exhaust system
side vents

I have added weight as well. With some accessories ie. ice scratchers, knee pads, gauges, bd box etc. So the 09s are real light to start with

I would like to do some of the othere stuff like the bd-x ti stuff but can't spend anymore money on it.:(

495lbs ready to ride means that you are about 410lbs w/o oil or fuel. Has this been verified on a scale or only by what the manufacture is saying.

Its actually 414 without fuel and its a premix. Yes it has been wieghed. It is going to be wieghed again in 2 weeks. Ill post newest weights when I have them.. Ill bet she be lighter this time..

tommy from tommys stock car bodies has a 380 lb m7 with a 1000 bikeman big bore. diamond s titanium chassis with hand laid carbon tunnel panels, tommys lightwthood, titanium bolts for everything including motor and chassis, full carbon fibre rear suspension, lightened skis titanium spoindles and wrist pins and connecting rods. titanium a arms . light diamond drive and light gears. camo 150 2.5 race track. carbon bars...

I have an 07' M1000 with the following:

Speedwerx pipe -5
Speedwerx y pipe ???
Super Q Can -13
BDX Airbox -8
BDX Lite Drive -11
Hoo vents and side vents -1
BD Powervalve Delete -4
Boss Seat -8

That is about 50 pounds. I figure I'll add a 2 wheel kit and with no windshield and a few other things it will be about 55lbs lighter than stock, making it about 470 lbs. Any other cheap things to do to lose weight?

08 M8 Snopro:

Boss Seat
Slydog skis
SLP full exhaust
SLP intake
BDX Diamond Lite drive

Figured Im about 30 pounds lighter than stock so far.

Pretty sure going by the weights SnoWest posted in their test last year that the '10 M8 is only around 8 lbs heavier than the XP. Throw an HPS can on the M8 and a can on the XP and they are exactly the same. Now the new RMK is apparently lighter than both.....

That was the case! 2011 XP is now in the 480's. Isnt it?

The free ride is up there for sure...

09 Crossfire 800
BDX 2 wheel kit
SLP pipe, y, and can
Boss seat
SLP PP's
Float conversion
Gutted insulation

Dropped about 25 lbs but added some too...

Probably the best way to take weight off your M is to call this lady named Jenny Craig.:face-icon-small-hap

I'm not sure how much mine weighs because I haven't weighed it but this a few of the things I've done that took some off:

Diamond S hood - probably 10 to 20lbs less than stock
Access Seat - probably around 8lbs
EZ-Ryde rear suspension - weighed 9lbs lighter on the bathroom scale
BD lite brake rotor - probably around 1.5lbs less
Ported the track - probably around 2 to 3lbs

Starting with a 141 already was light to begin with but I'd bet it's around 450 wet, and stays with the m1000 no problem even with longer tracks.

I've never understood why people do the oil delete to "save" weight. You might as well just not fill your gas tank as full and the end result will be pretty much the same. By doing the delete you will only carry enough oil to be sufficient for the amount of gas you have, so I guess in that way you do save a little weight, and not having the oil pump will save a little also, but by removing the oil injection and doing premix, you don't have as much gas to go as many miles (because that 11 gallon tank of gas is no longer 11 gallons of gas, it's less than that because it has the oil in it also), then you have also just leaned out your mixture (and on a stock motor you should then probably add a boondocker box or other type to richen things back up which will add some weight back) because when your injector opens, it no longer is spraying 100% fuel but a mixture of less fuel and oil.

Another one I don't understand why so many do is the power valve delete. You'll save a little weight by doing it but then you'll get that wonderful low end bog that comes when not having a powervalve and it will also make your mpg go down because it wont run as well on the low end. Power valves are put on a 2 stroke motor for a reason. Years ago they didn't have them because the technology wasn't there for them, but now that technology has advanced, they are a good thing that adds minimal weight for significant performance & fuel economy improvement. I understand that on a boosted sled it may not be the same, in which case it probably is a good idea to delete them, but I'm not experienced with turbos.
