Life Flight is a blessing

We have been members of Life Flight for seven years and actually had to use their assistance yesterday. It's a $15,000 chopper ride so I suggest everyone that is not a member, become one for an easy $35 annual fee.

My Dad clipped the top of a dead tree that was covered in snow while climbing up to the ridge to Tripod lookout. The top of the tree, which was 1 1/4" diameter, punchered his inner thigh 12" deep on up. Having a GPS and cell phone was essential.

Dave is undergoing his second surgery and is on a lot of antibiotics. Please say a prayer for him.

Also, they had to cut off my Dad's Klim bibs, so if there is anyone who has an extra used pair in decent shape that they don't mind selling contact me. He is 6' 215 lbs.

Thank you Greg, Justin, and Mark from St. Alphonsus Life Flight, the rescue crew, and Cougar Mountain Snowmobile Club.

Hope all turns out good with your Dad. How does the Life Flight membership work?

Best wishes from SE Id. Hope he has a complete recovery soon.

Depending on where you're at, you can get a membership at your local hospital. I am in Pocatello so mine is through Portneuf, but we are partnered with Boise and Idaho Falls LifeFlight and a few others I think. $50/year here and it covers any dependent in the household with or without ins. See if they offer it where you live to get all the details.

Lifeflight Membership

Glad your dad, Dave is ok Nate. We will say a prayer for your family.

Lifeflight is the FIRST snowmobile MOD I do every year!

Same here. We joind Lifeflight for the first time this year, and plan on continuing our membership. I just hope we don't ever have to use it

Glad to hear your dads going to be OK :beer;:beer;

Hmmmm wish i would have know About the $35...... i also was life flighted off mt Jefferson new years eve, broke my leg in 6 places and 2 fractures, flew to idaho falls regional medical center. Was your dad there also? Hope he is doing well. They fixed me up with 2 plates and 16 screws, spent 4 days in the hospital and rode 14 hours in the back of crew cab home to mandan north dakota. His second surgery went well! He has two more to go as of now to continue cleaning out all the debris from the tree. They said the tree puncture missed his femoral artery by an inch. Lucky man so far.

I forgot to mention that we receive a Life Flight discount by being snowmobile club members, otherwise membership is $50.

Thank you all for the support. I will relay the messages to him.

Best wishes alscat1

Wow, sorry to hear about your dad Nate. Something we all need to think about when bashing through trees at speed !
Hope he gets well soon and you guys can still get in a few rides together this season.

I am a member (wife is a nurse at St. Lukes). But even before that, it is one of the best insurance policies there is for folks that spend time up in the mountains or live in Idaho's rural areas. Growing up in Clayton, almost everyone up there is a member since you are so far away from any help, Lifeflight is a must.

Hope everything turns out well for your dad.

Hopefully he will get through these next cleanouts and have a full recovery. Thank goodness you guys were prepared and it wasn't his time! We had a lifeflight a couple years ago and did not have the insurance. The crash maxed out our coverage so there was extensive out of pocket expense that would have been handled by the lifeflight insurance. Lived and learned! Member since!

We see so many trips from life flight that that was enough convincing alone. Became members about 3 years ago and paid the one time $1ooo fee to be a member forever. It covers everyone in our immediate family as well. Best money ever spent!

I hope your Dad mends quickly and I'm glad things weren't worse.

I'm a member as well. They saved my buddy Troy's life last year, broken neck and back. Too bad he wasn't a member. Hope your Dad recovers quickly.
