To all out there be careful on the people you choose to be your friend, someone you trust your life with as they trust there's with you. I went up into the mountains snowmobileing with friends sat. They watched as I was trying to climb the hill. I made it but got stuck on the backside out of sight. Did they make the slightest attempt to help as it took me a while to get un stuck. When I got unstuck and came back down. Where my friends there to make sure I was ok and not injured???? Nope. No where in sight. Waited about 30 mins. Nothing.. road around the way we came for miles. Waited at the cabin government meadows for and hour. Asking folks if they have seen these 2,giving description Nothing... I went back down the mountain to the snopark and low and behold there van and trailer were gone. Mind you I was about a 500 feet up the road from them. They had to ride right by my truck seeing it there and knowing the last time they seen me is when I went over the top of the hill. Anyway they left me up in the mountains stuck on a hill with complete disregard for my health or well-being. When I called Dan Ross about it he started laughing about it. And said Carl Hays sled broke down. He rode it out 15 miles.. So I asked. (So do you leave all your friends stuck or injured on the mountain in the elements?) His reply was. HAHAHA well Carls sled was having an issue. His sled that he rode out was more important than my life. The track was starting to fray on the side because its a wreck peice of crap that he wont fix.....Careful who you choose. I discarded 2 friends and made 4 (JEEPDAD+ wife/ ARMYGUY+ wife ? )on my way to safety. So if you know Dan Ross or Carl Hays (C&C plumbing) Both are members of the SNOJAMMERS snowmobile club. I wouldn't trust him to plumb my rats water bottle. This is the real type people there are. They don't give a F*** about anybody but them selves. I found out what kind of person they really our. Years of friendship over in an afternoon.
They were the orange rev and white dragon that was held togethar with black duct tape, smashed front end ans a peice a sheet meatk on one side. I found them twice earlier in the day with this description.

There's a 50/50 chance I could have been a corpse this morning up there because I was left by my friends.

rant over..

ya it was too good of a day up there and i got to say the large group i rode with up there sat watched each others backs real good even when i rolled my loaner sled in front of lots of riders maybe even you, and ya one of the guys got stuck way up there on a climb and i went up to help and like you said when they left ya not knowing if you made it or not that really sucked and i agree i would not ride with them either, by the way my 04 doo has a 509 sticker on the small windshield, hope ya have a better ride next wk end.

without honor

No one leaves someone behind... that is the rule. This past Saturday several of us dropped into steep canyon to help someone we did not know... suspension broken on a Yamaha turbo... about an hour later we Mcgivered the sled back together and got him out... the point is you may leave someone... but it is to GET HELP.... be interesting in hearing the other side of the story...

That sucks - obviously were not true freinds, could have been a bad situation. The fact that they laugh it off says a lot to what kind of people they are.

****in tool bags. That chit pisses me off. Glad your ok. Another good reason to only ride with people that carry radios......good radio communication is more important than an avy beacon in my book. I use it all the time in the woods when we get separated and without it utter confusion evolves.

Spend $450 on the Garmin 950 and spend $300 on a beacon and don't ride with people that don't do the same!

Man that is a crappy story!!

I don't know... I prefer to never let people out of sight...

I do recognize a name there.. Im not all that surprised.
I had an instance happen to me earlier this year up at Gallager, However it was a miscommunication with the other rider, could have been real ugly, but all worked out in the end. Glad you made it back down..

When i got back into service and called they were home and unloaded. I wasn't to get help. If he rode it out they could have waited for me to get back come down.

I know some of the SNOJAMMERS are on here and you know who they are.

Glad to hear your ok!

Some people! I think that it's total bull****! You never leave someone behind! If I don't see someone for 10 min I start looking. I mean wtf, they passed your vehicle and don't turn around? Who does that? I would be pissed off too, and told them to eff off!

I was up there that day also, I took my Mom up for a ride. Her phazer had a little issue and I had to pull the carbs. The majority of people stop and check if we were alright, but a few aholes would blast by and dust us! Really, not even slow down? I've been snowmobiling off and on since I was about 12, my grandfather got me into it. He would slap me upside my head if I left someone or didn't stop to check if someone was alright!
Have some common sense people!

glad all worked out ok,

please keep in mind not all snowjammers are this way. hearing this on saturday really got to me and now i am reliving it again. its just wrong!

good to meet ya though, and had you hung out another 5 minutes when we saw you on that hill, you could have watched my wife try her 4th hill climb attempt and second that day! it was cool. now i just gotta get her to throttle out. when the sled came down the hill and collected itself on the poor inocent tree and she was standing at the top of the hill, it was funny as hell once we realized she was ok. good riding this weekend with great friends untill my ski-dont started acting up again! gotta trade that thing for something made in america!

They had their last chance when they saw your truck too - that kills me.

Last year I had a couple of buddies leave a couple of hours before I did. I got down to the truck about 4:00 p.m. and their truck was still there. My son and I topped our sleds off with fuel and went back up. We ran into them at the top coming down and they had been stuck in some trees the whole time. Glad we ran across them when we did - as I would not have had a clue where to find them. We all carry radios and use them too though.

Kind of tough to do when you are in a tree zone and going crazy for 15 minutes and its too tight just to keep following each other. We stay in the same area but not always in sight:face-icon-small-ton

No kidding it is tough.. especially when you are number 3 in line... lol. Though I tend to not like riding in places that tight. There is a reason I came out west, it sure wasn't to run into trees..

THAT is pretty cold when your friends don't bother to help. I ALWAYS carry a radio for instances just like the one you went through.

Randy,
I know both of the guys you speak of and am not surprised one bit. I can also guess that they ran out of beer waiting for you and there was some back at the truck and that was good enough for them. Carl is an idiot and also not half the rider that he thinks he is. These guys are good friends of my Uncles and I refuse to ride with his group, due to there lack of skills or brain capacity. You and my group hooked up once for a short ride last year that was cut short due to snowbi's bars breaking and I would invite you to ride whenever you'd like. I also know that you ride with Jerry a bit and he is the kind of guy you wanna ride with.

On another note, my group came upon two guys yesterday at Stampede that we're stuck @ the bottom of a good sized bowl that had no run out at the bottom of it. ( Not familiar with that area so not sure of name?) They we're on old trail sleds and had been stuck there 2hrs and could not even move there sleds 4ft without having to dig out. They had even went as far as to walk to the bottom and follow the creek bed to the road but could not take the sleds out that way. So after about an hr of us packing a decent rd for them we we're able to ride both their sleds out for them as they had no strength left. The first thing they said was that they had no buisness down there and how grateful they we're we came along. They even wanted to pay us, but we could'nt accept and told them that's what snowmobilers are all about.

Well most of us that is...

That is complete bs! You dont ever leave someone on the hill! I would never for the life of me leave someone on the hill. And to laugh about it wow thats says alot about them. Looks like you need some new riding buddies randy. Sorry to hear about that.

We are taking this very seriously. We will be discussing it with all parties involved.

As Vice President, it's unfortunate that this has happened, and we will be investigating this event. The club stresses to all members that we are all responsible for each other's safety. This is not the way we ride, and not the way we promote the sport.

Never leave anyone on the mountain... ever.

Last season in Randle a sledder lost his life while out of site of the group for less than 30min. The group went looking for him and found him dead.

This is nothing to F-with. People get out of site, it happens but you don't leave till they are found.
