leaving for Utah need some advice

Its the whole state right know. Sunday into Monday we had alot of rain as high as 11,000ft then it got cold and turned to blue ice. Your timing is the prob. We had new snow Wednesday but not enough to get past the ice undernieth. The other prob is the new snow has nothing to bond too. In short we are hating it until snowpack changes. Nothing in the 14 day outlook that will help this jacked up condition. Sorry MC

Way to many people ride Monte because it is close, the powder will be slim to none this weekend. The riding is a lot more confined then most places in the state.

Why does the parking lot fill up so fast if the riding sucks

I don't think you meant it that way but I got a good laugh out of it.

Monte is convenient for a lot of people to get to, by no means is it the best riding in the region. For you guys coming from back east it will be a blast, might be a little crusty but when you are here we will be in a nasty inversion which means fantastic riding weather....just no deep powder. Don't be afraid to drive a little if you want something other then Monte. Tony Grove or Kamas area are within an hour of where you are and have other things to offer riding wise.

I would rather have imperfect riding conditions than no snow at all. We ride on Monte quite often and always manage to have a good time. Are there better places to ride? For sure. But you will be able to be on the mountain in about 40 minutes depending on where you are staying in Eden, and that is pretty tough to beat. Just get off the trails, lots of fun to be had up there, pick a canyon and see where it takes you. Remember if you ride east of the parking lot, and you get to where you are not sure where you are, just find the power lines, they cross the main trail a couple of times and you can always find the main trail. Whatever you do, I am sure you are going to have a great time. Oh, and if you plan on having an adult beverage or two, make sure you get well off that main trail, or you will find yourself confronted by park rangers. That is the main reason we ride over in LaPlata, all private property. The riding may not be as good, but no beer police either, and you can usually find some good stuff to play in. Hope all of you have some fun.

Try the central wasatch, trust me, we got dumped on and the last few days have been unreal and you haven't even come close to hitting the crust at elevation. Also it's gonna snow about 12+ the next day and a half, you just have to know where to look ;)

Hint: check noaa near the big ski resorts.

For you guys renting over in eden, to get to great snow would only be like a 45-50 min. drive to get over to the park city/heber/kamas area.

Logan canyon

Just talked to a friend of mine that went up riding on thursday. Went riding in the sinks and west of the sinks and he said it was by far the funniest ride he has been on all year. Snow was deep and alot of untouched area to ride that direction. I used to ride that area and there are some really great places to ride , climb and lots of open meadows to play in that people dont go into at all. Lots of good wood cutting areas that have wood plies coverd with snow to get some air off of.

Logan canyon

It is just acouple of minutes away from beaver creek lodge. You can ride from the lodge to alot of areas.Sinks, beaver creek trail, franklin basin and tony grove all from the lodge.Logan canyon.
