Four of us are leaving for Utah on saterday. We fly out to Salt Lake to pick up our truck and four place trailer to ride for seven days we have been to Danials summit and we had a good time last year. We have 2 M1000 1 M1000 with a turbo 1 ski doo 800 we are all fair riders just looking for a little bit of everthing we dont like to trail ride . We were looking to find some new places to ride in Utah just woundering if someone could give us some pointers on were to go. We are looking at Beaver creek lodge , Bear river lodge can anyony tell us how these places conpair to Danial summit. Thank Chris

You cant go wrong with Bear River service area. There is so much riding up there you could almost ride all 7 days and not hit the same area twice. That would be my recomendation.

Beaver creek lodge is a great place to ride. If you take 89 up towards bear lake you will see a Brown sign that says "beaver mountain." Take that left and go about a 1/2 mile, and pull into the parking lot on the right. There is a trail out of the parking lot heading north. Follow the trail and have a devine time up in the super deep fluff.

If you dont turn at the brown sign, beaver creek lodge is just a 1/2 mile ahead on the right. You will see it just off the road. You can ride all around the lodge.

There are a lot of fun areas around Beaver Creek Lodge. That's in my neck of the woods.

You may want to double check with Beaver Creek Lodge before you go all the way up there. I do beleave you need at least one sled rental to reserve a room.

You don't need a sled rental at the beaver creek lodge in order to stay there unless you reserve it 30 days in advance... but it would definitely be a good idea to call and see if they have any rooms. I work there as a guide and I know we are super busy this weekend.. The riding is as good as it gets up there though that's for sure!

I don't mean to poach on this post but we are heading to near this same area next weekend. We are however renting in the eden area and plan to ride the monte cristo area. How is the riding in this area? Does anyone know?

Thanks,

The riding on Monte has been good this year, snow is somewhere around 4 ft deep, depending on where you are, lots of places to stay in Ogden, not too far away. Monte has a ton of riding available, but you need a GPS or better yet, someone who knows the area I would offer to come and ride with you and show you around, but I am resetting up my sled for the snow drags in downtown Ogden the following weekend. Wherever both of your groups go, be safe, and have fun.

Thanks Randy!

I guess that brings up a good point. Anyone in the Ogden area looking to do a little tour guiding in teh Monte area let me know. We are riding Sat, Sun and Monday (Jan 29th thru 31st). We would love a tour guide who knows the area well. We are from Minnesota and are riding 2011 Pro RMK 800s and 2010 Summit XPs.

Shoot me a private message if you are interested!

Thanks

If you ride Monte on Sat or Sun, you'll want to get there by 7:30am or so. The parking lot gets filled up fast on the weekends. There is plenty of space to ride for everyone, but that parking lot is a nightmare.

Thanks,

Went on Tuesday(01-18) and it was BAD. All the powder had turned to hard ice, about 5 inches thick. Keeping the sleds cool was a problem. Guys in the parking lot were complaining of burning up their hy faxes after riding out to la platta.
Last but not least, from the parking lot to CC turnoff was not groomed bumpy as a motocross track.

Thanks dude, That is good to know I was getting it second hand. So for that I am sorry about the false information.

Let's make it easy.

Ride 1,2 - Bear River service. Get someone to give you some pointers. Huge area and very deep snow this year
Ride 3 - 2 hr drive north to Beaver Creek Lodge area to Franklin Basin
Ride 4 - Same area just a little west (Tony Grove Area)
Ride 5 - Wolf Creek Pass. Near Heber City. Can access from Lake Creek or Daniels side
Ride 6 - Soapstone Basin. 30 mins from Heber City
Ride 7 - Snake Creek Near Heber City

Lots of good info on these with a simple web search. All have beginner to very advanced terrain. Beacons and avy knowlege a must. Visit utah avalanche center web site daily for updated info. All are fairly big and have good snow this year. There was a very hard layer put down by in the last week but there is 10 - 12" fresh on top already

Now I am worried. We planned thsi trip on short notice and Monte Cristo was one of the only places that was within an hour of SLC that had 800 sleds to rent.

Is the riding that bad in Monte? Can we hop on a trail and head north far enough to get good riding.

Why does the parking lot fill up so fast if the riding sucks

Just curious. I was in charge of planning this last minute trip and I don't want to disappoint.

Did you try Bear River Lodge? It's 30 minutes from Evanston Wy. if you didn't want to stay at the cabins. Lots of parking and endless riding like UtahEdge said.
