Latigo Ranch

Never heard of it. Tell them your interested in sledding and they will probably hang up the phone. lol They don't mention snowmobiles on their website and there is probably a good reason why. Who knows they may take your money, but you'd be the 800 pound gorilla in a room full of twig pigs. The ride to the RE would drain your tank too and the snow down there is not up to RE standards. I'd steer you towards Hahns peak area and Steamboat lake outfitters for a ride from the room type place up north.

On there website they talk about sledding.
They are refering to inner tubes.
I agree with Bushmaster.
If you call them, they will prob. hang up.

Rkymtnman knows them pretty well. They cater more towards ski'ers
but $ is $. They are nice people and at one time did rent sleds. The snow down there is spotty so that came to a hault.

PM Rkymtnman.

I guess I shouldn't cast aspersions without there due! Guess I still got a sour taste from dealing with the Columbine lodge (actually deciding not to deal with them) for the forum ride last year. They will let you stay, but you have to park the sleds and trailer somewhere else!

Thanks for all the input. I'll have to take a look at SLO. We stayed in Walden last year and that worked out really well. It would be nice though to just be able to walk out the door and ride.

YUP...agree with Bushmaster...SLO is the place for walking out the door and riding:)

Now when taking off from the SLO area is that the portion of RE where you need a permit as well as the state tag?

Two entirely different areas. If you stay at SLO you will have acess to Hahn's Peak, Farwell Mt., Big Red Park, Columbine, Sand Mt., California Park, Seed House but not Rabbit Ears or Buffalo Pass.

The folks at Latigo are very nice....

....but they are pretty dang green, cater to X-country skiers and snowshoers and they are SUPER RELIGIOUS.

They hosted a Poker Run a few years ago but asked the group that put it on to never as them to use the property for a poker run again. The terrain around there is spotty for decent snow and it is a looooooooooooong trail ride to get to good riding and that trail isn't groomed hardly ever. Just 2 cents from someone who lives 15 minutes away from the Ranch.

Sorry I made an assumption without looking at a map. Is there a place to ride Buffalo or the Ears without having to trailer?
