Lance Armstong - best athlete ever?

I knew you would mix Tiger in somehow.

I won't say best athlete...very single dimensional road biking. How about mountain bikers? Skateboarders, surfers. All 3 have way more dimension IMO. And the top people in those sports are probably even more athletic then MJ. Hell Kelly Slater has 9 world titles in surfing(also almost twoce as old as his competiton)...what compares to that? Waves are never the same, the conditions may change for biking but not near as much and as fast as a wave. So it's hard to say "best". Best road biker, very well could be...or he has a real good chemist in his corner

One last thing. Road Biking, not an single person sport....teams are made of differnet members who excell at certain stages. Lance is just the face of the team.

ya...best chemist...that sport is dirty with the amount of performance enhancing drugs...

Best athlete ever? I don't know how you can compare different sports, especially ones of skill vs. ones of endurance.

I would say that Lance is the greatest Tour de France rider ever without question. I could make a pretty strong case that Eddy Merckx is the greatest cyclist ever. Just Google his palmares, it's unbelievable. Lance has never won some of the other monuments of cycling like the Giro, Vuelta, Paris-Roubaix, Flanders, Milan-San Remo, and he has never attempted the Hour Record.
The current hour record is only a strong spit further than what Merckx set back in the early 70's on a 1970's era bike.
