Lakota Indians just seceded from the US?

i hope it does....then we can invade them...irradicate the lakotas, maybe ship them to iraq or something

I have no clue, i was hoping others knew more. Ive been looking for more.

read about it this morning, dont they remember the last time the fuct'd with us, do they really want us to bring it or what.
hey maybe this time we will be all like screw you you get no free money and now you have to get a job, thats what ya get for bein' a lil b!tch.

At the risk of political incorrectness - does this mean that the US can now STOP sending the hundreds of Millions of dollars per year in aid and support to these reservations?

all your points are topics several hundred years old we werent so PC back then... oh wait i think PC insnt politically correct anymore let me check a hillary poll real quick. They have had nothing but handouts since and they still wont try. i give major props to my good friends that came off the res. they got jobs, went to college and are now contibuting members of society. i have no remorse for people that claim that because of events 150 years ago they are too repressed to work.

I just think it has to be difficult with leaving your way of living that has been for a very long time, and joining the American or so called civilized way of living.

All native cultures have a hard time adapting to the rules and way of life that we impose on them. From Native Americans in the plains, to the mountains, to the ice sheets, they are all struggling, and there struggle only occurred after we tried to civilize them. I think they were doing alright for the thousand or so years before we happened.

How big of a river do you want? The Mississippi might take awhile.

four or five generations of a people is not a lot of time to make a complete change in there whole way of living/society/community me thinks. Of course there are exceptions to everything.

River getting a little deeper.

About the money thing, maybe the native americans are realizing that the handout is part of the problem.

Wasn't there a quote about give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will eat forever.

Seems like the govt. is partly enabling their behavior.

Almost deep enough?

we built a country in a little over 200 years...150 years is more than enough time to change "their" ways. All I see is 'them' being lazy and blaming 'US' for 'their' problems. It's 'their' fault not MINE!

ACTUALLY if you look at the change in the total culture of the US in the last 40 years you will see that change can happen FAST ! ! !

This whole thing is being "handled" by Russell Means who is about as useful and is looking out for as many people as the good good Rev.s Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

I will agree that MANY years ago the plains indians got jammed and taken advantage of, but that shouldn't translate to generations of people feeling that they have been effected. Just cause someone's great great grandfather got wronged doesn't mean that they have been. If you look at it this way, there are MANY people that have had land taken from them over the centuries and in most cases they didn't get handouts/assistance/whatever you what to call it from the invaders that took the land.
