Kudos to cat in 09

Ok my turn . . . . I have not had a chance to ride the 09 M8 yet, but I have spent the last two seasons on a 07 M8SP 153. I wanted to try the XP because the lightweight chassis was very intriguing, but I also felt that this thing is going to have to be damn impressive for me to like it over my M.
After 50 miles on the XP I have to say that I won't be going back to cat . . The XP is one amazing sled, very fun to ride, and only took about an hour of riding to get used to it. Now all I need to do is point it in the direction I want to go and it takes me there with a big smile!!!

They must have found some big power over the summer. I had the opportunity to ride and race a dealer prepped "09" proto M8 last spring that was being outdone by a single piped "02" VE Polaris. Hmmm!! Their 700's run like everybody elses 600's. Their 8's run like the competitions 7's and so on so forth. They always seem to be 100cc behind. I'll believe they run when I see one run, still waiting for enough snow to ride this season.

People before anyone talks to much about the m8's power you should look at dyno tests, the ones done here no one was making the power they claim out of the box the xp made 136hp with some clutching it made 142 that was it,the poo 800 made about 142, the m8 140,and the nytro was around 128 so i would say they are all pretty close for power except the nytro.as far as i am concerned nothing will take a 09 m8 turbo' yami's are too heavy but from what i have seen the m8 turbo takes it hands down it is one awesome machine it will put any other sled in its place IMO.

I don' care what your "dyno report" says . . I have ridden both machines and the summit has way more power than the M8. M8 has plenty of power, but the summit just has more. It's quite obvious when you ride both.

lol not the summit i seen he had to go home it wasn't working worth a crap he was pretty upset, i would imagine he has it dialed in now but 1st ride did'nt look good at all.

Yayyyyy, I love these threads.

I've put up with a lot of B.S. so far in this thread, but now who has the audacity to post a pic of T.O? I can now officially say.... I've been offended:D

2009 m8!

rode all day today in the field around home, the XP, M8 and D8 in a drag race, all with the biggest tracks they all are a lot of fun! but ill tell you this much, the XP does not have way more power!
they are so even its not funny. whoever takes the holeshot wins.
oh and BTW it the same up in the mountains! they are unbelievably close!!!
except the one buddy with the 2007 m8 162" sno pro, the 2009 m8 DESTROYS him!

Cat means business this year fellas!

One VERY happy M8 owner!

Relax you XP guys, he doesn't mean yours, it must be one not set up right or the sun was in his eyes or he was pulling a skimmer. YOUR XP is still the fastest best climber on the planet. YOURS is better than all the rest. LOL.
:face-icon-small-hap:)

Dawn BRP spend millions to develop super light :eek:super powerfull:eek:a sled and past that raw chassi to us XP owners so we can be as a test dummy for them and we can find solutions how to fix clutches,saggy rear suspention....... but they told us dont worry we have enough belts for all of you guys for small price of course 150$ keep them blowing fellas.Well Cat spend so little to dress up their sled and now mighty Xprimental sled got stomp by outdated M8 :eek:o one more thing did I mention M sno pro sleds 1000$ sheaper too. Man I love my XP 163:) it keeps going and going......................:)I hope I can sale my 11Gs sled next year for 6 Gs because of their reability and next lucky fella will enjoy super light a mighty sled.:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

well this year so far ive owned a xp d8 and m8
i sold the xp before i even rode it!! cause it scared me with all these problems
the d8 is awesome all around, wouldnt trade it for anything!
the m8 was ok it felt a bit bulkier and def needs risers, tha bars are so low.

but i pick polaris IN MY OPINION!

interesting dyno numbers

now let see you would gain a few hp with clutching on the dyno....hmmm
on a engine dyno you REMOVE the clutch and a track dyno the numbers are half of the engine hp (ie - 140hp sled at sea level is 70hp at the track)
Just curious how you got the numbers after clutching it?
LOL 2 funny

no kiddin, welcome to some of the info on snowest.

Ya sorry guys i never did the dyno a performance shop did i also read it in a magazine a couple months back i think i have it here i will find, and i thought he said clutching maybe they adjusted the carbs or did a track dyno x2 either way the numbers were'nt what they claim and doo was way out,not trying to knock them they are great machines and work very well when dialed in i know that.
