Koso A/F gauge doesn't always start up.....why?

likkerpig I have my AEM wired identical to your Koso on my 06 M7 chassis and it has worked flawlessly for a couple seasons. I would say it must have something to do with the gauge itself if all your wiring is good.

Mine was doing the EXACT same thing........ I had to wire a small 12v switch into mine to get it to turn on all the time.... Works great now and works all the time!

Thanks brian_moreau7 for the tip on the 12 volt on-off switch.
I bought a Koso A/F guage also with same problem of not turning on after shut down-restart. 3 or 4 attempts. Took power from fuel pump and grounded to engine and measured voltage. Always had 15-16 volts so I know power was not the problem. Unconnected power connection, rejoined and voila!!, power back on. I was ready to send the gauge back. I think that some people are in such a hurry to get their stuff on the market that thorough testing is not done and we pay the price. :face-icon-small-fro

I re-ran the ground wire to the recoil housing bolt, started up.....nothing. I'm done with Koso and will be doing an AEM gauge shortly. Can't stand it when stuff doesn't work all the time, that's not ok in my book....not for what they cost.

sucks...i agree with ya...they aint cheap..mine read "f" for abit yesterday...i just turn the toggle off and got her into higher rpms and a bit hotter pipe temps...threw the switch on and guage ran great all day....well when you get the aem let use know if their probe fits the Koso...??....ps...did you try the probe without the heat sink...??..but yea a few hundred bucks is too hard to come by nowadays..hope good fortune makes it up to you in another way !!!!

M8, I do appreciate the help and suggestions!!! Just a constant @ss whip dealing with it. Could probably just wire in a switch and be done with it....but if that's the case, they should include that in their install instructions! I've done toooooo many searches and the exact problems with Koso I've had seem to be the norm with them. Everything I've read about the AEM gauges is that they're far more reliable and actually work. Once I get my junk rewired up, I'll let you know how it works.

06 m7..same problem. have to start and shut off the sled many times before it works right. sometimes it was start to heat up and just before it starts reading it will say Err. then gotta shut it off again....last year it was much better, only had to do that a couple times but now im lucky if it works at all..

17.6 miles, my gauge worked for oh, maybe 3 miles until I shut it off to test it and see if it'd come back on. It didn't. I'm sure the sensor is still good, it's only been on for maybe 20 minutes, in the pipe for hour, maybe hour and a half. lol

koso

have called koso with same probs and they told me not to run without a battery to power it. so took it off and put it on my daughters 4 wheeler with a battery and same bs . sometimes the gauge on and lighted up but no #s inside showing.

Koso power problem

This could have something to do with this problem?

Koso AC/DC Power Pak $39.95

Usually snowmobiles without a battery, power accessories using AC current. The regulator on these machines sometimes allow voltage spikes up to 30+ volts. Our AC/DC Voltage Converter converts this AC current into a manageable DC current needed to power up our gauges. This allows our gauge to be used in other applications other than snowmobiles such as tow vehicles, etc.

Designed for Snowmobiles without a Battery. Robust Electronics for powering DC Gauges. Lightweight & Powerful. Easy to Install.

06 were already DC, I believe. Cat converted back to AC power on what, the 07+ machnines? Either way, doesn't matter to me. I'm done with Koso A/F and won't be going back.

KOSO Contact

Hi guy's

I sent KOSO North America an e-mail the other day with a link to this thread. Here is their response-

"Sorry about the delay, the office was close for holyday. Can you please post on the forum that they should contact us instead of trying to solve the problem by themself. We do have a toll free line 1-877-777-0604.

Best regards
