Klim customer service sucks!

My nephews Klim glove failed. Not sure of the name of this glove but it is the lighter style glove with a couple of knuckle pads. Right at the seam between the thumb and pointer finger it failed. We were out on the trail, had no back up glove, not sure my nephew even knew that it failed at the seam. It is obvious that the thread broke and allowed the seam to separate. On the way back it ripped on both sides of the seam for about an inch and the membrane also tore. The glove was ONLY used for riding snowmobiles. Took it to my dealer who sent it in for warranty. At first I got a call from a nice lady and I explained what I thought happened. She was concerned because it was ripped, talked to here about that. Not like we used it for ANYTHING is was not designed for. She told me that they would send me out a new set to replace these as they were not repairable. Awesome right, got a bag in the mail from Klim with gloves in it so I put that in my nephews cabinet in the trailer. He went to use them and they were the torn pair with a letter telling me polietely to F O. Really disapointed with Klim. I buy gear for 3 people every year and have bought thousands of dollars of Klim gear. NOT ANYMORE. DONE WITH KLIM. IF THEY TREAT A GOOD CUSTOMER LIKE THIS ON A SMALL THING THEN THEY WILL NEVER FOLLOW THROUGH ON BIG THINGS.

What you're experiencing is not all that rare, big marketing hype and promise of lifetime product warranty. I recently had a backpack fail by a company who claims to have the best warranty in the business, I had to send it back three times to the tune of about $90.00 before they finally replaced it with a factory new pack instead of one with a bunch of band-aid repairs.

I've read dozens of threads on Klim (plus we've had an experience in our own household) and what I've gleaned from them is that Klim doesn't really back up their boots and gloves but that they do an excellent job backing up their snowpants/bibs and coats. I think boots and gloves are considered a higher wear item and they (justifiably, IMO) don't want to be on the hook for normal wear and tear and I think a lot of people try to get free gear from companies when they wear out their old gear.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

Me too

You know, I had the same thing happen with Klim gloves. They seem to be really picky when it comes to gloves. Maybe it is hard for them to discern "normal" wear and tear. The thing that baffles me is I sent in a pair of bibs to them because the seat was leaking a little. They sent me a brand new pair of bibs!! Take a look at the thread below, were you in a similar situation?

Are talking about the powerxross gloves?

I have also heard people have issues with Klim warranty similar to your problem. I personally have had a great warranty experience with Klim. I sent in two pairs of the inversion gloves (windstoppers) one of them for sure was a warranty problem where the seem was coming a part on the palm. The other pair I sent in for the heck it... They were completely worn out, I mean holes in the palms and everything, they a good long season of riding on them but I figured if I was sending in one pair might as well send both. About two weeks go by and I get a package in the mail with TWO brand new pairs of gloves!

I guess I got lucky or something but Klim stuff has been great for me

What did your dealer say? Our experiance with Klim has been awesome both as customers and as a dealer. We cant all get it all right every time. We can only try. Hopefully your dealer will go to bat for you.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I've had gloves and boots fail and they've always taken care of it right away, without issue. I know the guys at Klim read these threads so hopefully they'll see this and make things right.

I have had nothing but good luck with Klim warranty. I'm hard on my boots and am on the third pair, both the second and third was warranted (paid for the first pair only). I even sent in some gloves, the left side failed after 1000 miles of riding and I called them. They said they probably wouldn't warranty them but once they got them they called and wondered why one was okay and the other not. They were going to send them to their R&D dept to see what they could do. They did send me a new pair of gloves.

If you register your Klim stuff on their site I think it makes a difference.

I have come to the conclusion that every once in a while i am.going to.break, or.wear.something.out. my experience with klim has been great! I think a lot of my success has been that my dealer has stepped up to help me out.

I can understand that klim cannot warranty everything. How could they afford too? I also am realistic with what I have sent back.

Good luck in finding a company that backs there products as good as klim, because you wont find it.

The fact.they.told you they would send you a new pair and didn't is the part that.would have me mad.

Hmmm. Interesting post. Im getting ready to send a pair of bibs in because the pocket tore out. Guess Ill see what KLIM does for me.

Just to clarify. These gloves are not even a year old. Been used maybe 15 times and most days only half a day as we switch out for dry gloves and goggles most day. The right glove is toast, the left is perfect. I work retail. Know all about customers and how they try and put one over on manufacturers for their own mistakes. I wouldn't even send something in that I thought was our fault, been on the wrong side of that too many times. My dealer(I90 Motorsports in Issaquah, WA) would give me a free pair of gloves if I asked them. They wouldn't even question it, we have done a lot of business together. But it is not their problem to solve. I don't want my dealer to lose money when Klim should step up and fix it. I made a post on SW about an issue I had with a pair of Stomper boots. Someone from Motorfist saw the thread and contacted me direct and told me to send them the boots and they would have a new pair sent to me at the same time. Didn't even need to look at them. I didn't think that was fair to Motorfist at the time because I wasn't sure of the problem so I declined the offer but was very thankful for it. So Klim lost a customer over like $25(prolly their cost to replace the glove or gloves). I am not vindictive but at $400 for a coat or $350 for a pair of pants I will not take the risk they will reject a warranty claim. Gloves should last a season, boots at least 2, a coat or pants 3. Just want what's fair. BTW, 4runner gave me bad rep for this post. REALLY?

I've shredded three pairs of powdercross gloves, one every season for the past three. My dealer suggested we send my last pair in for warrenty, now I'm waiting, waiting, waiting.. I'll be pretty hyped if they send me a new pair, but I still won't be buying another pair in the future. Three is enough to know that they just don't hold up.

Here's my question, has anyone found a pair of thin, yet reasonably warm gloves that perform as well as the Klim Powercross yet holds up? I have a pair of the motorfist equivalents that are in as rough of shape so I know they aren't any better. I don't think such a thing exists.

I like thin gloves, but may as well buy el cheapos in bulk at wallymart if they're just going to fall apart every year. :(

Somebody has to throw one of these "Klim customer service sucks" threads up here every month or two. Why, Klim seldom responds? If you're not happy with Klim gear wear something else, you're only hurting yourself. You're not going to hurt Klim by posting this stuff. Fact is Klim customer service is 2nd to none, they know it and so do most of the guys on this site as well as millions of Klim customers worldwide. Just because you happen to disagree with a decision Klim made does not make their customer service suck. Near as I can tell Klim's company growth and their unmatched support of this site and the snowmobile industry as a whole hasen't diminished for a split second from any of these "Klim customer service sucks" posts so why keep doing it? Klim does more to promote and protect your ability to ride snowmobiles than any other manufacture in the world including the OEM's and you're going stop supporting that over a pair of gloves? Dude, turn on the tool between your ears.

Awesome advice Hand. Just bend over and take it. Klim is so big they can do anything they want, keep buying their gear not matter what. You must love getting it up the a@@. I DON'T have to just accept any descision they take. Like there is just one manufacturer of anything. I vote with my dollars. BTW, I haven't seen a post about their crappy customer service but if it is so common why would anyone spend a grand on a full set of gear knowing they would turn their back on you if there is a problem. But you just keep taking the punishment if you like it. You are an idiot.

M.M. I was just curious to see if you have registered any of your gear with Klim? I can't imagine them doing that to you knowing how much you purchase from them(not that it should matter). I registered a jacket, bibs and backpack, I don't know if they register their gloves or not?

You may have directed this post at another person but your comments seem to condemn satisfied Klim customers as a whole as being a bunch of sheep and that's offensive. Not everyone has had a bad experience with Klim. I like their gear and I like their service and if I didn't I wouldn't shell out the money because it's pricey stuff. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but just because you did doesn't mean the company sucks or that people who still prefer Klim are stupid. You are free to vote with your dollars, I am free to vote with mine. Calling someone an idiot because they disagree with you is uncool.

I may be an idiot, but I would have kept this off a public forum, called Klim and talked this out like an adult until I understood them or they understood me. I would have gotten it resolved so that I wasn't taking it in the a$$ as you put it and still maintained a good relationship with them and not burned any bridges. I realize there are other gear options out there, but not if you want to wear the best. Klim didn't grow into the company it is today by having a customer service department that sucks.
