King's Hill 2017/18

For those interested, it is still winter in the Little Belts. The parking lot is holding up well, only the road in is starting to melt out. The snow both east and west is excellent spring snow, yesterday had about 3" of fresh on the trail and the trails are holding up great. Jeff is still grooming until the temperatures dictate other wise. It was about 10 degrees as we left the parking lot and mid 20's as we returned.

Saturday March 31 is the Great Falls Snowmobile Clubs annual Doc Eusterman steak fry. We'll be at the groom Haus from 11:00 Am to 2:00 Pm with our master steak chef Jim at the grill preforming his magic. We'll supply the steak, you bring a side dish and your appetite. It's gonna be a great day for a barque with lunch for everyone.

If you don't know where the Groom Haus is, it's at the summit of King's Hill. Go past the large transformers under the power line to the end of the groomed trail. You can't miss it. If you have Trail Treker on your phone, it's marked as a point of interest. See you there.

We went up Saturday and had a great ride early, anywhere from 10" to 15" on an excellent base. By about 1:30 it got really warm and the new snow turned to slush. The parking lot was holding up but the access road was melting out and muddy. As you leave the parking lot, watch the beaver dams as we are starting to get a little open water and I'm sure there is no ice on the ponds. If you go through, you are on your own as we can't come in with the groomer to do any retrieval.

Grooming operations are about over for the season. Have a good summer and many thanks to all the volunteers throughout this winter season.

We were up Tuesday and had an excellent spring ride. We parked on top, although the parking lot is holding up. Thought the snow was going to be hard and icy but it was just the opposite. We are supposed to get snow this Thursday, tapering off for the weekend. Grooming operations have ended but the trails are still good.
