Khaos Track Opinions

I have changed out my drivers to extroverts, so am running the track looser. My original track failed. Have new track on warranty and when it was out I changed drivers and fully clipped the new track. when you are in any snow it is better smoother than original, but when on trail with little to no snow it is noisier. No vibration just more noise. Guessing it is the extra clips. Maybe with more use the extrovert will mate up better and it will quite up a bit. It doesn’t really bother me just commenting on what it is. I have a buddy that is running 9” rear wheels now so am monitoring how that is working.

My intention with the 2022 is to run 4 each 8” wheels inside the rails. (With my 162 rails removed from my 2016 if they don’t fit)

What did Polaris say about the warranty of your track?

Did your middle windows tear? How many miles? Its going to be very interesting to see as these tracks get more miles on them.

The center windows were damaged a bit, but that is not why i needed to replace track. On the center windows they claimed that a bit of abrasion or distortion is ok, as it not get worse once the track is broke in. The center driver can only reach so far and once that happens it should get any worse. So they say.
My issue was the track tore at the outer belt And had no visible damage showing that I had hit something. I think they looked at it as good will to replace.

Questions for you guys running the 2.75”.
Vibrate?
Ratcheting?
So tight the rear idlers protrude the track?
I believe all these are caused by the small rear wheel(7.25). It basically fits between the rods. Every time a rod comes around it’s like hitting a stutter bump.
I believe a larger wheel would fix this issue and an added benefit, easier reversing in snow.
was running Avid center drives.
no ratcheting, but significant track shift and thunk when on and off the throttle
ran very tight, yes rear idlers were putting a very pronounced bump/indent at rear of track. this is using ice age 8" wheels

I did just switch to Avid extroverts because I did not like how tight the track was and I was starting to get some deformation wear on the center drive windows. one actually had a very small tear in it

i was thinking of fully clipping it now that I am running extroverts. I have clips in the garage.
noticed many other tracks running on extroverts are not fully clipped, just on the lugs.
is it really beneficial to clip the other windows?

I couldn’t say one way or the other to be certain. I have run extroverts on none fully clipped before, didn’t have a problem. I just thought while i was fixing a problem I would add the extra clips to balance out the contacts of the drivers. I have read or heard in the past that if you have fully clipped track one should run hi temp hi fax. I haven’t done that but will keep an eye to see how the stock ones are wearing.

i was figuring the same, couldn't hurt to throw them on this series 8. I have the clips. i bought them for the first 2.6 that was wearing out the unclipped windows. never used them though because I switched to an x3.
I had ice age rails and hyfax with the fully clipped x3, never had an issue.

I have ice age rails and hyfax for this 165, so i would guess no issue

No vibration or issues once I put 8” wheels with extroverts on my 2.75. I typically run the 4 center 8”wheels like sheetmetalfab, but ran 2 hellfire’s this year.
These changes had to be done to make this track work. It wouldn’t have made it half the season the way it came from factory. It’s the best track I’ve used to date now.

I bought a left over SKS that came stock with a fully clipped 2.6 hard durometer 155. It shows none of the threads or normal wear that a 2.6 usually does . And I've only rode it on hard packed trails. I'm sure it would trench more but the durability far exceeds that!

My wife's seems fine to me. Have never tightened track. Best track Polaris has made to date.

Which drivers did you use?

Which drivers did you use?
Avid extroverts with the MTNTEK anti stab.

It took all I had to spin the track while suspended in stock configuration. Stock wheels were bulging track too. Now you can spin it with your pinkie while suspended!
