Khaos Track Opinions

I just snow checked a new Khaos and was planning to order the series 7 track, but my dealer suggested the series 8 and commented that the 3 inch track has been a better track and ride. Any opinions? I have no reason to doubt my dealer and did take his suggestion, but still have some lingering doubt. TIA

Your statement is contradictory.

Series 7 = 3” track.

Series 8 = 2.75” track

The series 7 is the 3”. Most guys don’t like it. I feel like there are much better options for a 3” track. The series 8 is the 2.75. Next year it’s coming with extrovert drivers and would be my track of choice. Most bad reviews on this track is due to the center drive configuration used this year. I put extroverts on mine, and like it better than any other track I’ve ever used. Obviously snow conditions, hp, track length, and personal preferences will make a difference on what you want out of a track. I’ve always liked the 2.6 as the best all around track until this new series 8.

Sorry had that reversed. Thanks

Don't get too worried, Polaris couldn't get it right on their website either. Not sure why they don't just list them by lug height, when there are only 3 tracks available.

General consensus is the 3" is a trench digging fool. It works amazing on deeper wet snow, but buries itself in the light fluffy snow while the 2.6 and 2.75 are better at pulling up on top of the lighter snow and don't give up much in the heavy snow.

I know most people say not to get the POO 3", but I have rode with some of them the last few years and they appear to work extremely well on a 163". None of the guys with them have complained at all.

No experience with the 2.75.

Riding buddy has had a 163 with a 3" track, nobody liked it that rode it for the last 2 years. Have the 165 2.75" and love it.

Not sure why everyone hates on the 3" series 7 track ... i had it on my 19 and swapped out the X3 ... what a huge downgrade that was ... sled turned into a trencher

series 7 works great .. i have series 8 now .. also works great !

I have a khaos 156x3.
My only complaint is it spins a bit more than i would like But i am comparing it to an Alpha.

My buddies 162x3 has been great 99% of the time here in central Washington.

Sent it

Driveshaft and drivers pic, this is a 3" track. The 2.75 will get the extroverts.

Questions for you guys running the 2.75”.
Vibrate?
Ratcheting?
So tight the rear idlers protrude the track?
I believe all these are caused by the small rear wheel(7.25). It basically fits between the rods. Every time a rod comes around it’s like hitting a stutter bump.
I believe a larger wheel would fix this issue and an added benefit, easier reversing in snow.

So the issues people were having with the drivers on the 2021 2.75 tracks are resolved for 2022 is that correct ? Still debating on 2.75" or 3 " but leaning towards the 3

The 2.75 works very well in powder and set up snow....climbs on top of the snow really well. But, it vibrates like a bitty going down the trail, especially around 20mph. In the powder you still notice, but the snow absorbs a bunch of it. The idlers do protrude because the track has to kept so tight. Actually acts like you have the brakes on good following their recommendation. Running that tight haaas to stress that driveshaft too.

I have changed out my drivers to extroverts, so am running the track looser. My original track failed. Have new track on warranty and when it was out I changed drivers and fully clipped the new track. when you are in any snow it is better smoother than original, but when on trail with little to no snow it is noisier. No vibration just more noise. Guessing it is the extra clips. Maybe with more use the extrovert will mate up better and it will quite up a bit. It doesn’t really bother me just commenting on what it is. I have a buddy that is running 9” rear wheels now so am monitoring how that is working.

I'm taking my doo track and doo rear wheels off my 19, and there going on my 22 boost 165.
