this is true, a boosted 800 will outperform. I ordered the 850 with qd2 and the lighter track this year. Hoping that might get track speed closer to boost but with stock reliability, the ultimate goal.
Khaos 800, Is the 800 still valid?

My .02 I had a 17 800 slp pipe pro gear gear down x3 162 track loved that sled.
Ordered a 19 850 163 put a 162 x3.2 on it with pro gears everything else stock. Did not like the power band of the 850 as well as the piped 800.
Went back to a 800 piped 2020 khaos was going to go x3 again but wife ordered a 21 pro 165 2.75 going to wait and see how that track works.
I know the 19's we're hit or miss mine was a turd my wife's ran really well. So we'll see how her 21 850 runs compared to my slp 800.

The SLP pipe does work great on the 800, makes what feels like very similar power to the 850.
A few 800s in our group have had the RPM issues where they just will not pull over 7900-8100 RPM. Mine really ran well at 8300, but after getting some miles on it I just couldn't get there.

I liked my 800 alot. I like my 850 alot more.
My 800 mtntk turbo has stock reliability and way more track speed than the 850. You wil not get close with a naturally aspirated 850
I’d choose the 850 for that difference.
I agree for that money get the 850. You will get that much more on the resale.
I still don't trust the 850 more than the 800 for 2020.
Fouling plugs sucks and shouldn't happen in 2020. Too many hit or miss 850's out there for me to choose that over the 800 and that is saying a lot with the history of the 800.
I'm sure with the 4th or 5th or 6th map the 850 will only keep getting better.

Agreed! But its not a big deal and for the most part does not happen frequently. But still BS.
Beyond that the 2020 motor appears to have been rock solid.
I prefer the solid state style TPS of the 850 being more reliable than potentiometer style failure that was on the 800's. Spark plugs are easy to change and personally I had no plugs foul. If you foul plugs you are not riding hard enough.
Just my 02. cents...I snow checked a 19 850 with high hopes. While I was not crazy about the power band of the 850 to start, I loved the ability for it to keep pulling on long climbs. However, after the extremely long break in period, it developed all kinds of gremlins (bog, low end throttle issues, etc.). After spending more time in the shop than on the mountain, I went back to the 800. I have no regrets after getting a 20 Khaos 800 and adding a Boondocker turbo.
