Just moved to Colorado - Leadville

Hey all,

Just moved to Leadville,CO from Arizona. I'm from and grew up riding in Michigan. Mostly in the Keweenaw. I've been escaping back to Michigan for a week or so every winter to get my powder fix. I definitely looking forward to getting much more riding in and I am looking for some people to ride with.

I currently have a 2006 M7 153" back in Michigan, haven't really decided whether I want to leave it there and pick up a sled out here or go back and get it.

Hope to see you on the snow!

I moved out here from New York with one of Tucker Hibberts old Sno Pro Firecats a few years ago. The sled ended up sitting and not getting driven so I sold it. I'm glad I did because the geometry of sleds out here is night and day different from east coast sleds....

Welcome to Colorado. Leadville is a cool town. Cold but if you're from Michigan you can deal with it. The M7 will get you around to ride, that's for sure. Just depends on if you have the cash to buy another legit sled or not.

Your Local CSA Snowmobile club is the Leadville High Riders. Make sure you join your local club so we can continue to have riding areas open.

PJ- Yep, I'm at Climax, transferred up here. Judging from Kremmling, I'm assuming Henderson?

Assassin- Thanks for the link. I knew there was a club here, just wasn't sure how to get in touch with them. Before AZ, I lived in the Keweenaw in the UP for ~5 years.. I'm looking forward to the cold and snow.

She may be an eastern M7, but she holds her own in the powder still.. It ran fairly even with my buddie's '08 M8. I'm just debating whether it is worth it to upgrade to a 2009+ M8 (in addition to the 2800 mile  round trip to get my M7)

Russ if you can afford the M8 get a 2010 or newer. They are way ahead of the M7 and older M8's plus you'll feel right at home. Primary clutch isn't as bulletproof but the rest of the sled is pretty good and way better out here than the ole M7.

I'm not sure what PJ is talking about with the 14K Pro.. But the posts here all indicate he's been drinking a lot of the Doo-laid:face-icon-small-ton lately...

Yep. I am in the engineering dept and I do the surveying. I have been going over to climax for a couple years to help them with tailings deposition.

I'll take my trusty old doo over a cat or a pro. But if I was forced to choose pro or mseries id take the cat. And doolaid is tasty and good for you. :D

How can you even begin to talk about "your trusty old Doo" PJ...don't you remember pulling it out with me riding on it behind the tow sled getting pummeled with debris????????????????

Cause I'll never forget that buddy:face-icon-small-sho

Welcome. I lowered my spec's and ride with a few Michig'onians! :face-icon-small-ton Suppose one more can only hurt worse so, what the hell! :face-icon-small-win

I have met very few native Coloradoan's. Do they exist? or do you guys just import everyone from the midwest  ?

Cool. I'm in the mill engineering dept at climax.

I was weaned off the Doolaid (summit RT... cough.. cough..) by the allure of the M-chassis
Though my old 700 Doo (MXZ 136) pulled back quite a few poo's in its day... I beat the heck out of that sled and it was still running strong when I sold it.

That was the 2008. The 09 has givin me no issues. But still that 08 went thru less motors than a Pro. And that tow out was due to a faulty DPM. Took that POS out and never looked back.

I am a native. I was born in Wheatridge. Before it was actually part of Denver.

Shoot me a PM, next time I'm up that way I'll stop by your office. I'm over there once a month giving David Oberosler a hand and of course the Raiders fan that sits next to him some grief.

Naw. Cause he is thinking of the wrong sled. The ONLY person to pull me back with a seized motor was XC after I tried the BigBore game. I ripped that POS RKT crap out and went back to a stock 800 motor.

But me having to replace motors on my stuff pales in comparison to the PROs.

XC had motor failure
Mule had motor failure (on a sled with less than 500 miles)
Tec, I think that poor guy lost count
SkiB, he's lost count too.

Then there are the guys that traded their 2013 Pros in for *gasp*, the 2013 cats.

And then VOHK dumped his Pro and rode the Cat for the remainder of the season. hmmmmmmmmmm?

*Disclaimer* If anyone gets all butthurt, just remember that it's all in fun. We need some rideable snow.
