I try to avoid programming... hardware's much easier to fix. Next biggest would be an unsigned integer, but there'd have to be a flag for positive/negative at that point. Beyond that, (2^64)/2 or 9.22E18.

With computer hardware being as cheap as it is, there isn't as much focus on efficiency and memory conservation as there should be (Look and see how many printer drivers you have, how many of those do you actually use?). Embedded technology's a whole different world, the difference between using an 8 bit and a 16 bit variable could be the difference between a $30 processor and a $35 processor... multiply that cost difference by large quantities if the device is going into mass production and there's a lot of money there.

"Next biggest would be an unsigned integer, but there'd have to be a flag for positive/negative at that point." spoken like a true hardware guy, I'll look for that compiler option. :)

I'm a embedded software/hardware guy. Cut my teeth on 8051, printer control, modems, doom 3D type projection, motion control, pointing systems, PC104. Now I'm doing ComExpress, PowerPC and microBlaze FPGA embedded processor programming. Lots of nA level parametric stuff, custom powersupplies, calibration, PCIe, and a ton of SPI control. ATE.

I love it when Big D gets bored... This is great!:D:D

Well, with the history being opened up more I just found out who the only person to slap me with red was....funny thing is last night the same person slapped me with some green.

There's only one unsigned RED rep I gave out that I wish I wouldn't have.
(Really only a couple I left unsigned)
It was on a parts deal I wasn't entirely told the truth about but I never made a public deal over it, just Red Rep...Privately but the guy made it public.
I didn't want it to go public that I thought he lied to me because he's generally a good guy.

I'm sure that will come out eventually.

Anyone else have any Rep that has N/A for ID of person ...... Have 1, luckily GP signed her green.

Also the expanded does show me 1 more unsigned Red ..... pretty sure based on thread it was on, comment left, and person repping it was a joke .........

BTW GP, green back at ya.....

Probably was banned.
N/A is what the thread will have on it when it gets pulled by Admin.
