Disco, I meant to ask...did I PM you and tell you that it was mine? Check your PMs. Look like I started to type something else and didn't get it out...in all caps. LOL

Great green globs of greasy grimy gopher guts,
Mutilated monkey feet,
Chopped-up baby parakeet,
And I forgot my spoon.
So give me a sandwich with pus on top,
Monkey vomit and camel snot,
French-fried eyeballs dipped in goo,
Have some, (Rocky), it's good for you!

:rolleyes::)

32-bit integer, MSB is the sign. :cool:

Cool, you do any programming Mule? If I were writing this program, I probably would stop at 2 billion also. What's the point, the next bigger number system (64bit integer) you could use would be 9,223,372,036,854,775,808, gets a little silly at that point.

The 32 bit isn't necessarily due to it being a 32 system, it's just a common size of a number a programmer would pick when writing in a 32 bit system. Any bigger, you get into slow math libraries, any smaller and you probably don't save much memory anyways, depends on compiler options, or the scripting language used.

So, it appears that when you rep someone, it gives them just about 1/100th of your total rep points.

It's interesting to watch you guys reverse engineering the forum software.

I try to avoid programming... hardware's much easier to fix. Next biggest would be an unsigned integer, but there'd have to be a flag for positive/negative at that point. Beyond that, (2^64)/2 or 9.22E18.

With computer hardware being as cheap as it is, there isn't as much focus on efficiency and memory conservation as there should be (Look and see how many printer drivers you have, how many of those do you actually use?). Embedded technology's a whole different world, the difference between using an 8 bit and a 16 bit variable could be the difference between a $30 processor and a $35 processor... multiply that cost difference by large quantities if the device is going into mass production and there's a lot of money there.
