Just finished watching Boondockers V Alive!!!

No Im not a flatlander. and incase you didn't know.. boondocking isn't climbing hills. Thats called hill-climbing, NOT what it said on the cover.
hehehe ouch, we need snow in here..

Chazzer has a point about carving down hill, maybe a lil footage going up those hills would have been awesome. They had a lil bit, but not enough. The California hero snow climbing is a rush but funner to do than watch. Still though, i stand by it, the video is sicc and the soundtrack (minus the california segment song) is dope also.

If Burandts making a film, consider me to be the first on this Thread to jump his nuts before everyone else does! I would buy a Burandt film in a second. Always a good mix of powder, spring, jumping, trees, hills, and even some freestyle. Couldnt go wrong with it i bet..(too bad there wont be any turbo yammis in it)

Burandts movie isnt out yet. It is being produced by Clayton who does the sledneck movies. Im interested to see what music they will have, and you better believe i will be first in line to get that flic!!!

We appreciate all feedback good or bad on Boondockers Films. Our niche is big back country drops, deep powder, and natural extreme jumps. We team up with davidoff and others to get some extreme hill climbing. We love hooking up with the california boys cause its fun and a good time, and crazy things happen on those trips! We understand that we cannot please everyone in their snowmobile video tastes and riding styles, but we try to stick with providing our fans with the best powder footage we can get. We also try to get a well rounded mix of music. Again not everyone will be happy with it and we know this. But we at boondockers also feel that we must be doing something right, aliVe is flying off the shelves like never before. I expect that out of the hundreds sold, a few people will be dissappointed and thats ok.

Mr. Chazzer,
If you would like i will personally exchange your copy of BD5 for a flim of your choice. I have pretty much every new sled movie, so let me know what you want. I will do this for you and you only so you will be happy and have a much better winter. May the snow Gods smile upon you...
Sincerely,
The phat man...

PS Boobs are great fake or real... maybe we should get more of those in the Boondocker films? :D hahahaha

My 2 cents.......

First, everyone is entitled their opinion. I think it's great that so many people are supporting the vid makers since they put alot of time, money, and energy into doing what they love.....sledding and catching it on film. I salute all of you guys since you all put out great products and I benefit from your work. Thank you!

Now.....I have to say that BD aliVe is one of the best (if not THE best) sledding video out this year. Dan, Andrew, Phatty and the boys do a great job of putting a true backcountry sled film together. Their riding is always good, the music flows, and the filming/editing is extremely well put together. Dan, hats off for doing all of this on a college-bound time schedule and budget! You have a true talent for this, whether it be out in front of the camera or behind it. Keep 'em coming.....

A buddy and I had the opportunity to ride wth the BD fellas and Davidoff a few years ago in Canada.....what an awesome time!! For those of you who haven't met them, I will tell you they are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet. For being as good as they are on a sled (and they are good....), they were extremely patient with a couple of rookies. I still appreciate that and will support you guys any way I can!

Keep up the great work guys. I've got my copy of BD5 and it hasn't left the DVD player since I got it. Happy rippin' everybody.....have a safe season.

I thought the the climbs would be powder, not concrete. The only powder in this flick is ridden down hill.

Chazzer

Well if you want to see powder climbing, youll want to avoid TS7 for sure. Like others have mentioned, same chutes all the time, almost 100% hero snow, and no descents from the chutes they climbed. Id love to be able to just go rip up some chutes or big, gnarly hills and get a helicopter ride back to the bottom too. TS has a few great riders, not taking anything away from them, but it just doesnt do it for me personally. Id like to see those guys make those climbs on stock or close to stock sleds or with tons of pow added on the turbo climbs and I might be more impressed with the film. I also think if I keep hearing the word "Epic" im going to be sick.

I havent seen BD Alive but I saw Elevation 3 and loved it. I honestly get more "pumped" when Im watching the vids we took of our own group riding from the year before. I dont know, but something about watching the type of riding that Im into just does it for me. Toss on your own tunes and away you go. :beer;

Thanks for the offer Phatz but I will not be exchanging my film. I've watched it 4 times now and I kinda sorta made friends with it. But my opinions still stand and so are the other people who watched it with me. OK film but not great. That is my opinion which i'm intitled to.

There are alot of 'mixed' reviews of this film so it's good to see that im not entirly alone on my views. And no, you cant please everyone.

So, i might watch the flick again but it will not be my first choice sled movie. Evolution??? TS7??? KK Dans film???

We'll see........

well.... for starters, have any of ya actually SEEN a slednecks film from 9 and up?
there is basically no ramps and i think it was 3-4 mins in slednecks 11 with ramps and that included Thacker and Delene's jumps... :p

and i'm not saying slednecks 11 was/is the best movie of the year... but, knocking something you obviously don't know is just stoopid.. ;)

i have seen basically every new movie this fall and i still stand by my early words about Boondockers aliVe is the best movie...yet.. with SummitHD: Hangfire on second place.

and Boondockers is the only film i have found time to watch again...and again.. i pop sldnx11 in the dvd from time to time just to watch Burandt's segment and sometimes i watch Turcotte's too..

as for TS goes, i liked 6 and 5 way better than 7...

my personal guess for "the best film of the year award" would probably be Burandt's Backcountry Adventure....so please, don't let me down on this one ;)
the teaser looked sick with slednoise AND music... watching a entire movie with just sleds get's reeeeeally boring..
tried watching 509 Evo with just sled sound... the music was back pretty darn quick... ;)

but get some boobs in BD6 and i guess we're all happy :D

I think Slednecks 7 was the best film to date, with burandt and browns segements coming in a close 2nd on Slednecks 8. I liked those movies a lot. Ofcourse for all out BIG AIR, Turnagain Hardcore 5 is the ****!! Gotta represent for AK.

Phatty........ excellent reply. Cool that you weren't offended and take the good with the bad. Like we all know, ya can't please everyone.

I think it's great when people voice their opinions about the new flicks. Helps everyone else on a budget to pick the couple vids we can afford to buy each year.
But I do wish that the ones who offer their review would offer more specifics. The thread author did pretty good at this but I'd like to read stuff such as:

What kind of music is the soundtrack?
Any known bands?
Were there any segments that made the vid worthwhile in spite of the stuff he didn't like?
What was the footage like? Close ups? Long shots? Nice mix?
I guess I'm just trying to say that it isn't very productive to say stuff like " The soundtrack sucked" because taste in music differs so much. Same with "The footage sucked" cuz riding styles and what people like to watch differs too.

Just my .02
P.S.......... My all time favorite segments to get me pumped is the opening/ theme song in MMM3, Sunnyday Believer song in Thunderstruck ( can't remember which one), Jesus Hernandez song in Slednecks Y2K, and I Wanna Rock in Boondockers 4. To me, they were perfect combinations of Footage, Editing, and Music.

WOW! Quite a thread!.....

Phatty "hats of to you", & everyone at Boondockers. I have watched the flick several times now. Each time I watch BD5 something new comes to my attention that entertains me on a whole new level. This is what makes a flick of any kind a keeper & very enjoyable for me personally. I agree, everyone does have opinions in this world & entitled to them. The level of grace that these opinions are accepted by others is a true accomplishment of integrity.

I would personally like to say, Thankyou,to Phatty & the all of the Boondockers gang. You are a true inspiration from many angles on & off the snow.

Mini:D

PS! Just drove down from Calgary today...WHOOOOOHOOOOOO the 'SnowGods' are waking up from their long summer nap!!

You've already seen it? It's available now?
