joker on youtube + new site

His logic about snowmobiles on Mt Baker is akin to people who move near an airport and then b!tch about aircraft flying overhead.

Or MX tracks.... That happened to a couple of tracks back home. I never could understand it...

GTG... I get your points, but I don't think those are the same crowds as climbers..... I have done quite a bit of backpacking (not car camping), and the ones that respect the land the most are the ones that go out in it for extended periods of time. The day trippers and car campers seemed to be the ones that chuck the most trash.....

Just the "Staggering part". And you sure that most practice LNT...? or just use the term 'cause it makes them feel good..:p

FYI, the clean up we all did at Gold Creek back in May?? or there about:

Co-worker of Melody's was up last week picking up garbage same place. They pulled 15 full bags. Went from the intersection at the field (where we ended) to the Sno-park (where we started).

It was "staggering" to hear the story....LMAO, I doubt it was sledders..;)

The part of the story that was the funniest was the amount of Dog Poop they picked up...in baggies. Give me a friggen break, how dumb do people get? We picked up 4 or 5 maybe. He said they picked up a staggering number of bags, like dozens. Or whatever. But it was a staggering amount.

Good seeing you this weekend. Been to long.

Are you twelve? Don't like my use of stagger as an adjective? Maybe one of these will suit your taste... "the amount of trash left behind by snowmobilers is..." unbelievable, monstrous, huge, tremendous, inconceivable, unimaginable, etc. (Not to mention, disgusting.) Do you honestly believe it was the climbers that carry all the beer, fuel, liquor bottles, etc into the bc? or are you saying the trash isn't there?

The point is: There have been a number of threads about climbers and trash in the backcountry and their hypocrisy. I'm suggesting looking at our (snowmobilers) own impact/hypocrisy before fingerpointing at others. Like I said, I'm an active user of both groups and it is blatantly obvious who the bigger offender is when trash is the topic.

Ruffy is correct, there is a significant difference between car-campers/day hikers and climbers/backcountry hikers.

Loosen up the g-string there fella... you're goin' pass out.

That would be an opinion. Kinda like azz holes.

And Ruffy is NEVER correct. I read that somewhere, so it's true.:p

but passin out is such a rush.

My panties get in just as big a bunch over on cascadeclimbers.com every spring when they start pissin and moanin about sledders in the alpine. It gets tough to try and defend the trash and the wilderness poachers:mad: when you see it and know it's true.:(

wait, what was your opinion again?
-trash isn't there?
-sledders aren't responsible, must be the climbers?
-trash isn't a problem as I see it, toss at will?

This thread just demonstrates the fact that each group is blaming the other for actions performed by both. And that it will always be an issue between the motorized and non motorized users of the back country that the other is the problem. Reality is that both groups have members that abuse the right to be there by leaving garbage or other acts.
But there are allot of people that respect the land as they should and go out of their way not to disturb the other groups when they meet up!

I don't think these groups will ever agree that's how it has always been. all we can do is respect these areas when we are there. and teach all newcomers to respect it as well

It was probably in an email.....:p

huFfer,

The NWGC has a spring clean up every year and we try to clean up the trash on Baker. If you know of some spots that need attention, you would be welcomed as a guide to show us where so we can clean it up! The members have snocats that can aid in the removal of lots of garbage.

You're on, although I'm no "guide". I'm sure the mountain ravens will do a far better job at that than I. My lack of participation in your organized clean ups is, admittedly, shameful.

I commend snowmobilers (see my original post) on their ability to organize and follow through with action, climbers could learn a lot from snowmobilers...

OMG, it's the shameless "reach across the aisle" approach. Will it ever end?? A pathetic response. :p
