We are leaving Friday the 16th, in IP from the 17th to 23rd. I’ve got a torn meniscus so I can’t really giver to awful much but I’m gonna have to make this most of it. I’m excited!

Seriously if you have reservations and can change them do so. Really the only way the snow could be worse is if there wasn't any. If I were you I'd shorten the drive and head to Cook or maybe even the Big Horns.

Not that I want more people to come here, but anyone saying the snow sucks either only rides where the tourists do or can't ride well enough to get to the good snow. Just saying...Don't get my wrong, the usual culprits/areas are pounded out harder than I have ever seen and there is a ton of sleds scooting around. But it is snowing right now as I type this and is supposed to keep doing so through Sunday/Monday. Im going riding today in an area where I know the snow is still good. Its not blower powder right now but might be by the weekend. But if you go to the right spots the snow is still deep, kinda thick, but it not frozen and crusty. Tourists tend to go to the easiest to get to areas that are wide open and without trees and those areas are frozen and trashed right now. My advice if you come here, dont just "follow the tracks". Use google earth and go blaze your own trail. Cooke City is still pretty nice though the snow has calmed down there a bit too. But good luck getting any room reservations. I cant tell you how many MN, WI, ND, MI, and even CO license plates I have seen around here lately. One of those years boys...

I will be in the area on Saturday for a few days and even if it doesn't snow I will find good snow have found it in a lot worst conditions then are out there right now.

We rode the Keg Springs area yesterday.
It wasn't spectacular but once we got out of the trees there was about 4-6 inches of fresh stuff over some very setup snow underneath.
No it wasn't fantastic but it was definitely rideable and still way better than sitting at home.

Thanks for keeping my hopes alive guys! I’m actually going to be riding on a freshly torn meniscus so I will be happy just being on my sled. I’m sure I will be able to find some good stuff for the group.

Coming from Washington be there from 18-26 hopefully there's some fresh. I been trying to talk the group into B.C. as there's way more snow and half the drive but no luck. I'm committed now so hope it's good!

"Not that I want more people to come here", man I hear that. However, with that said, if you picked next week to come to I.P. looks like it's gonna be your lucky trip. We've picked up a foot or so down low, the past few days and up high is looking really good. If this storm pans out this weekend like the forecast says, we'll be rivaling Cooke City for best riding conditions. Now please ignore everything you just read, leaves more for me and I P local :face-icon-small-win

shhhhhh. the snows horrible. Nobody come here, nobody come here! This weekend and Monday will be bananas in Island Park. Too bad I'm riding Mt St Helens this weekend though. Dont feel bad for me 45" coming over the next 3-4 days here.

A winter storm warning? I love it.
Tonight 2/25 for IP.
Snow. Areas of blowing snow. Low around 16. Wind chill values as low as -1. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 17 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Monday
Snow. Patchy blowing snow before 11am. High near 25. West southwest wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Monday Night
Snow likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -2. Wind chill values as low as -11. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

It's deep. The last couple days have been amazing. We were 1/2 mile off trail today and had a very hard time getting out late this afternoon. Snow was over the handlebars at times. It's suppose to snow all night.

As of noon Sunday, about 10* and a bit over a foot of fresh snow, let up for an hour or so and it's been coming down pretty good since. If you have a cabin up here you better seriously consider "cutting" the snow off your roof. Supposed to snow all night and most of the day tomorrow. U.S. 20 is currently closed from Ashton to Montana, should see 5' on the gauge by tomorrow morning.. :eyebrows: SNOWMAGGEDON IS IN FULL EFFECT HERE

Looks like its going to be a GOOD WEEK for sledding!

Yes, yes it is... I think we've maxed out here, had a crapload on my thermometer but it fell over. Another 18" last night, and a few more today, still snowing but easing up. This place is a ghost town with US 20 closed.. me likey looks like we'll be reloading Thursday :face-icon-small-coo Avy danger I'm sure is of course off the charts, but people are still finding ways to kill themselves here..
