Is this the best mountain sled ever?

07 M with problems out of the box??? you mean sleds aren't supposed to melt and boil the oil in your res. the first time you ride it in pow??? heck i thought that it was a some new super secret cat mod:):):)

After riding with a 1/2 dozen race gas turbo M's and RMK's over the weekend....I realized the stock power thing is really a stupid arguement. 5 or 10hp either way who really cares. Buy what you are most comfortable on, because you are never going to be king of any hill on power alone without a turbo setup these days.

So you saw at some hill all day and beat some other sled's mark by 10 feet or vice versa....then someone with a boosted version shows up and wheelies through your marks while eating a burrito, did it really matter?

Hahahaha.

Hmmm...... what kind of burrito?

You are missing the point, STOCK. When you start modifying everything goes out the door.

Having rode several Pro's I would love to buy one, I would buy one and leave it practically stock. It is that good out of the box. I would probably throw some better boards on and some different shocks. After that, there is no need to play with it.

I agree, I love my Pro so far and it's basically showroom stock. I think it runs and rides very strong as is and will already go places I have no business in being.

I just think it's funny guys talking about other stock sleds with a few more hp as if they're big powerhouses in the grand scheme of things.

5-10 horsepower will not overcome a better rider/driver. Learn how to ride your sled and be comfortable on it and you will go places a guy on a turbo will go if he doesn't know how to ride.

Exactly. I don't know any 2 riders who's abilities, riding styles, and sled setups are close enough to compare that. There are even little tricks to winning a straight line drag race on the flats, let alone in the mountains.

i'm an ex 15 year cat guy and see nothing copied from the cat, nothing. rode the pro once and knew i'd never want to ride my M again. did they copy the narrow chassis? cast bulkhead? running boards? coilover suspension? lightweight? ability to carve faster/sharper than any other production sled? smooth linear power? reliable chaincase? ease of steering? permagrin?

is this the best production sled ever built???

YES!!!

You guys are being ridiculous, the pro is a direct copy of the m. They took all the good from the m and made it even better! It is the best sled by far.
Why do you think they took burandt on? He rode an m and got to make a new m called the pro with everything that the m lacked. Anyone who knows anything about these two sleds will tell you this.
The pro is the best and by using the m they attained that lable this year, best mt. Sled by far

I think its pretty common knowledge Polaris benchmarked the XP much more then the M sled. I would agree that the PRO handles much more like an M sled then an XP but that is it.

Come on, the Pro and M are not even close from a technical point of view. The Pro is a lot closer to a Doo than it is to an M. The M is a lot closer to a Dragon or even an Edge than it is a Pro. The M works well for what it is but it an old school design that they have taken as far as possible. I bet that their next mountain seld will be a Pro knockoff.
